It's Simon Mayo.

Richard Bacon is taking over Mayo's slot on Five.

LauraIngallsWilder · 13/12/2009 17:16

Unquietdad - noooooooooooooooooooo

I am going to have to retune my digital radio!

I cant bear simon mayo

or Aled Jones

I did love Graham Norton when he did steve Wrights show recently though!

I love Stuart Maconie. More when he's on his own than in his show with Marc Radcliff(e?). Two or more northern voices at a time just sounds like a conversation at a pub I'm not welcome in. Not that I wouldn't like to be in that pub, I just mean it's a subconscious turn-off for me.

CybilServant · 13/12/2009 17:30

Simon doesn't bother me..at least he doesn't try and make all his radio side kicks into 'personalities' like Evans does

TheFoosa · 13/12/2009 17:31

love Simon Mayo and am devastated that he is moving to Radio 2

and I HATE Richard Bacon

so no-one is happy

Ponders · 13/12/2009 17:37

"I did love Graham Norton when he did steve Wrights show recently though!"

Oh so did I, Laura - he is absolutely perfect & so funny (did you hear the one where he called his dogs? )

trice · 13/12/2009 17:41

simon mayo is dreadful. I prefer chris to wogan.

UnquietDad · 13/12/2009 19:12

I like Aled Jones. I just can't stand the smug sanctimonious tossers he gets on as guests.

maxybrown · 14/12/2009 11:08

I like Chris on the radio now I have to say.......but can't imagine him replacing Terry in the morning it is going to be very odd.

LadyBlaBlah · 14/12/2009 11:10

Graham Norton was brilliant, I agree

OTOH, Simon Mayo............y.a.w.n.

TheFoosa · 14/12/2009 12:21

shocked at all you Mayo haters

perhaps he appeals to the older listener

UnquietDad · 14/12/2009 12:54

It's a shame he won't be bringing back Dead or Alive, that cryptic record clue thing, Confessions, the Missionary Position and the Golden Hour.

DarrellRivers · 14/12/2009 12:55

simon mayo so so so tedious
and yes Graham Norton was fab

LauraIngallsWilder · 15/12/2009 17:21

I just want to add that having said that 'I hate' simon and aled - Im sure they are lovely really!

But I cant bear listening to them on the radio!

I heart Graham - I loved his TV theme tune spot

I am going to have to switch radio show at tea time
Although I like Chris in the evening Im not sure whether Ill appreciate his morning show..... we will see!

Ooh yes UnquietDad - the Identikit. I used to love Simon Mayo in the mornings on Radio 1 - was gutted when he left. I have to say I'm so glad that Terry Wogan is going.

seeker · 20/12/2009 08:04

I can't believe people don't like Simon Mayo - his radio 5 show was brilliant - interesting, thoughtful, intelligent - everything you want from a magazine show. And he was well informed and self effacing - not like the ignorant opinionated peacock that is Richard Bacon.

not that I feel at all strongly about this, you understand...........

HollyGoHeavily · 20/12/2009 08:19

Simon Mayo is great - intelligent, interesting, funny - without the need for constant zaniness which starts to grate on me after a while (step forward Mr Evans!)

Don't get me started on that twerp Richard Bacon though....

Ronaldinhio · 20/12/2009 08:25

Richard Bacon is an abomination

I thought I'd hate Evans in the evening ended up loving him

Steve Wright winds me up now

Generally I hate hate hate Graham Norton but loved him on the radio
Love Mark Radcliffe also

All in all I have no idea it seems but it's a no brainer between R2 or Fearne the voice of Grotbags Cotton or Chris Moyles

Clayhead · 20/12/2009 08:46

I love Simon Mayo and Richard Bacon!!

[weirdo emoticon]

All you SM refuseniks, try PM on R4 at 5pm - generally presented by the delightful Eddie Mair - you get interesting news & a few good laughs as well (& he is a brilliant interviewer who never lets anyone wriggle off the hook however hard they try)
