He's just too good to be true and looks like he might end up either trying to get off with all Helen's mates or be a psycho/stalker?! Am I being too cynical?

No, I don't think you are. I had a feeling about him a few weeks ago when he arrived early for a date with Helen (or something) and chatted with Annette about how she was a great girl etc etc.

MinkyBorage · 16/11/2009 21:10

I know I know I though he was going to try to try to shag Annette. Also the cocktails thing was far too smooth. If this is a script writers idea of what a lovely guy is like, I'd be very surprised. Poor Helen.

Yes, she doesn't seem to be having much luck with men, does she? I hope this doesn't tip her over the edge and back into eating disorders again.

Not so much because I care about her, more because I can't stand Pat moaning on about it...I'm all heart me!

squeaver · 17/11/2009 11:25

Oh yes, he is so going to give one to Annette. Or try to give one to Brenda???

OrmIrian · 17/11/2009 11:26

Too good to be true.

CoffeeCrazedMama · 17/11/2009 17:57

He creeps me out too. Lovely, caring Aussie men do not behave/sound like this -I should know, DH is one . On the other hand, however (not that I am any expert on this one), weirdos do! I wouldn't be surprised though if he is what the scriptwriters think passes for a caring and sharing Aussie male.

DressageNut · 18/11/2009 13:47

Seemed ideal at first, has now overegged it and appears a bit too smooth and slimy I reckon. If he does try it on with Annette I don't expect her to run screaming for the hills, either...so when Helen finds out it will be goodbye flatmate and boyfriend in one fell swoop.

But Helen - is she really going to take on a regular babysitting assignment for Will & Nick, in order to step outside her comfort zone or however it was phrased? I also seemed to be suffering from a time lapse problem during that scene. Were Jake and Mia still chattering immediately before W&N came home, or was there a suitable interval between hearing the children and W&N's return? Just struck me as bit odd at the time.

R4 · 18/11/2009 17:50

The charge is that Leon is too smooth and suave with the ladies, too heterosexual. My bet is that he will go all unreconstructed when they go on the double date with Ian & Adam.

MinkyBorage · 18/11/2009 20:06

They were going bananas then Helen bollocked them and they went to sleep immediately, just in time for Will and Nick to get home! wouldn't happen in my house.

Yes, the Adam and Ian date is going to be a total disaster, can't wait to find out why. Ian's going to hate him, and as we know Ian can get along with anyone, so that will be catastrophic for Helen. I was secretly hoping that Ian might already know him for something dodgy.

Agree, if he came on to Annette there is NO way she would reject him.

Right off to listen to tonights episode on my ipod!

There's a thought. We've had the recent storyline with the footballer gay-bashing so we can't have another anti-gay, can we? Or is Leon going to say something that Adam miscontrues and he goes off on one (taking out his frustration, at Ian's lack of action against Felpersham FC, on Leon?)

WhatSheSaid · 18/11/2009 21:48

I reckon Helen's new babysitting storyline is just to get her out of the flat in the evenings so Leon can come round and shag Annette. And it won't be a one-off, it'll carry on for a while before Helen comes home early and finds them. Hope Annette leaves over it, she is uber-annoying - how blimmin needy was she with Jazzer?

MinkyBorage · 18/11/2009 22:08

WhatSheSaid, you are sooooo right, the babysitting thing is just so ridiculous! Helen volunteering in the first place wasn't right, but to do it regularly is nonsense, especially the bit about it being 'out of her comfirt zone'.
R4, yes, you're probably right. Wonder what it will be?!

OP posts:
WhatSheSaid · 18/11/2009 22:21

Yes, I can already picture it:-

"Will, Nic! You're home early! Oh, you didn't feel well, Nic. Oh what a shame, well, I'll be off home then..."

"Leon, Annette! How could you? After all I've done for you, Annette...what would Greg say...never darken my doors again..."

etc etc

I should write the scripts

MinkyBorage · 18/11/2009 23:43

*comfort!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you write the scripts?

Actually we used to live next door to a couple who wrote scripts sometimes and they were absolute piss heads, which figures. Funny, only just remembered that. Remember being decidedly unimpressed, Archers = old people! !

DressageNut · 20/11/2009 08:46

Well done the MN crystal ball on this one...! Ian's comment that Leon's clearly a "player" rang very true, especially as we also heard that Kirsty, Brenda and (of course) Annette seemed very taken by him, and that he was "keeping things casual" with Helen. Ian is probably a good judge of character and I fear the scene is being set for more heartbreak for Helen, sadly.

I thought he was sounding very peevish with her about the friend's party. Plus when she mentioned Mike's 60th in the Bull and received the question about why they had to hang around with "old people" it seemed a bit of a repeat of what happened with the previous boyfriend (Ross?) who, if memory serves, started complaining about all the family events and eventually led to Helen going a bit wild to prove how "fun" she really is.

MinkyBorage · 20/11/2009 23:11

ooh, how exciting, I didn't realise 'the meeting' this week. How exciting, I'm listening to it NOW!

OMG he's a total c**t! Wonder if they'll tell Helen

CoffeeCrazedMama · 07/12/2009 12:22

Well whatshesaid - looks like its going to be whatyousaid!!! What a sleaze he is!

DressageNut · 07/12/2009 12:48

Yup, he was a sleaze. Right from the avowed fondness for "chick flicks" to the line about how she "really did it" for him. Yuk. Shame she didn't boot him out unceremoniously, but she wasn't going to do that, was she?

traceybath · 07/12/2009 12:53

Oh no - there goes Helen's lovely xmas.

MrsSantosnotSanta · 07/12/2009 12:56

What gets me about Helen is that it does take an awful lot before she will see sense. She has lousy taste in men and is very stubborn with it

Anyone else getting seriously bored of Lillian's wailing?

CoffeeCrazedMama · 07/12/2009 12:56

No - he'd already worked out her vulnerabilities in their little 'heart to heart' weeks ago. She's a needy kid really, with a big sign over her head to that effect.

We can take solace that, as she's been with Jazzer, the encounter might not be as consequence free for Leon as he hopes, iykwim! (But poor Helen...)

mistletoemulledwinemoodlum · 07/12/2009 14:15

He's disgusting. Creeeeeeepy.

Love Linda more and more each episode though..

MinkyBorage · 08/12/2009 19:50
