Who heard Zoe Ball doing Ken Bruce today?

I tried to give her the time of day. I really did. She was nothing like as teeth-grindingly awful as Davina was the time she did it, but she had none of Ken's effortless charm and wit. Everything was overdone and flagged-up and I'm afraid her voice does grate.

She's grown up a lot since the days of the R1 breakfast show, when she used to brag all the time about going out and getting drunk 7 nights a week. But still an acquired taste...

Where was Ken, anyway? Odd time to go on holiday...

My DAB radio said Zoe Ball was on the other day, but it was definitely Richard Allinson.

I had Richard Allinson yesterday in lieu of Steve Wright on a long-ish drive. Very disappointing as I do like Steve Wright and the Old Woman etc. Steve was at the dentist I believe, if on air banter is to be given any credence. Maybe Ken was too.

Yes, I wondered what had happened to Ken, too. He is an acquired taste but I really like him now.

He was off mysteriously a couple of months ago, and wouldn't say why but drew attention to the fact he is NEVER off so I've got a horrible feeling he might be ill (I mean proper, serious illness and off for hospital appointments or something).

Zoe's pleasant enough but not old and cynical enough for KB fans I think.

Also, agree with Saltire - ditch Jeremy Vine. I have converted to R4 between 12 noon and 5 pm.

I can't abide listening to Ken Bruce or Steve Wright. They are both so dull.

I don't understand what Alan Carr's doing on R2. Is he still on it? Talk about a crap brand fit.

Alan Carr is a twonk. I try not to listen to him, hear him, see him or generally even be aware of his existence!

What have people got against Ken Bruce? I find him quite a personable presenter. Yes, his jokes are a bit lame, but that's part of the fun.

I listen to radio 2 every day up until I hear Steve Wright say the word "Ta" at the start of his show. Then I cant get my hand to the radio off button quick enough as I cannot bear him or his sycophants that stupidly shriek with laughter at his every pathetic utterance.
As for Ken Bruce. I love him to bits and would perform man love with him if he asked me to. He is a fine DJ and is so easy to listen to. I am not enjoying the dreadfull Zoe Ball I'm afraid and if he does get replaced permanently by Mayo, I will find myself another radio station to listen to...Perhaps AM 1215. I dont mind Mayo in small doses but he isn't in Bruce's class.

Oh I like ken Bruce. He makes me laugh.

Zoe Ball was obviously getting her Dj wings again after co hosting Johnathan Ross's show with Danny Baker. He is so funny and quick and she was clearly out of her depth.

I fail to see what talent she has as a broadcaster.

Danny Baker Radio London 94.9 is the best. I never fail to laugh out loud when I listen to him.

I could not stand Baker when he took over from DLT years ago on Sundays on R1. I had to switch him off. The endless, smug, oh-so-"funny" anecdotes... which just spiralled inwards into digression after digression... I was screaming at the radio "just play a fucking RECORD!!"

Loathe Steve Wright and don't think much of Ken Bruce (and would rather stick pins in my eyes than listen to Terry Wogan).

I just had to say though that I completely disagree with you Saltire my old chum re Jeremy Vine. For a reason I cannot fathom, I absolutely adore him and, having been a hardened Radio 4 listener for a quarter of a decade, I now listen to Radio 2 between 12 and 2 just to indulge in Jeremy's gorgeousness.
