esp piece from Liberia, really moving and far more revealing imho than sth from yr average journo.

I heard that piece too and thought it was great.

Did anyone hear the bit on avant-garde fiction? I missed that.

I only heard the last 30 minutes or so but thought it was very interesting. Disappointed by the inane interview with Evan Davis - normally I'm a big fan of his but this was not his finest hour. I thought Zadie Smith was very gracious not to tell him how stupid his questions were.

I agree. He was very halting there.
