As usual, DD conspired against me so I missed the first 15 minutes how do they know?

Could I have a brief precis of what he said?

I am assuming from the way they got to play a lot of each of his records, that he actually didn't say much.... he seems very modest and quiet, and probably doesn't feel comfortable talking about himself.

great programme, but I didn't care for his choice of music much. He spoke about how he became a teacher (by accident almost) and how much he loved it, also about the death of his first wife and how he coped by creating a book about her.

they do playback Desert isaland discs on iplayer but I think it repeats later today and Saturday?

Grrrr! appears the programme is not available to listen again....

it is repeated on Sunday...(unless this am was a repeat)...I've noticed they don't always have stuff on listen again straight away.

He was lovely. Talked about having 6 bells beaten out of him as a child but so did everyone else. And about getting crap marks at school because he had dreadful writing and spelling and kept leaving words out becasue her was so excited about the story. And how, despite the rubbish marks, he was asked to read his stories out to the class, and he loved the laughter and applause.

Just caught the end but I think it might be repeated on Sunday.

Peepo is currently book of the week here. The dds are facinated by the pictures esp the bath tub on the floor by the fire.

Oh Slubber- can't believe you missed it!

I tried sunday, but DD and I were ill, and we ended up having lunch really late, so I was sidetracked somewhat...
Today- DD got up mega-early, which DH thankfully handled, but as he'd been up half the night with her I said I'd drop her off at nursery, so ended up missing the first 15 minutes.

It is so annoying that they don't put it on listen again- I can understand the issue over the music copyright, but they could cut out the music, and just have the interview played- after all they edit 'In our time' for the repeat, so it is possible
