I just wanted to use this lovely new section to say - isn't it great that Just A Minute is still going, and still with Nicholas Parsons too?

There's a good site about it here

LOVE IT SO MUCH!

don't catch it often enough.

UnquietDad · 05/09/2008 20:44

Since my childhood the definition of "deviation" has become somewhat broader.

One of the best things on Radio 4! Love it!

UnquietDad · 06/09/2008 10:43

I think InTheseShoes was speaking as the whistle went and gains the extra point.

i adore this programme. Anyone else feel they would be brilliant at it?

MimsieNet · 06/09/2008 10:51

lol at deviation. (think you hesistated a tad there UD..)

MadameOvary · 06/09/2008 10:54

Does anyone remember Willie Rushton singing "My Old Man's a Dustman" to the tune of "Girl From Ipanema"? Priceless!

UnquietDad · 06/09/2008 10:55

That was on "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue", but yes, it was still funny!

MadameOvary · 06/09/2008 10:58

Oops! Yes of course
I love Paul Merton's cheekiness on JAM - is he still a regular? Haven't heard it in ages

MadameOvary · 06/09/2008 11:00

UnquietDad you are same age as me lol.

UnquietDad · 06/09/2008 11:02

Both are programmes I remember from my childhood. My parents always had Radio 3 or Radio 4 on. They didn't approve of anything else.

InTheseShoes · 07/09/2008 21:13

Bzzzzzz...deviation. UD started to talk about Radio 3 when this is clearly a thread about a radio 4 programme

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/09/2008 21:14

Sue Perkins was on JAM today - love her !

TsarChasm · 07/09/2008 21:18

Oh yes it's wonderful. (As is most of R4)

Clips I've heard of Kenneth Williams doing JAM are classics.

Bluestocking · 07/09/2008 21:19

How can you all be so undiscriminating? JAM stinks to high heaven. It's only a tiny iota less hideous than Quote Unquote, which, to steal a phrase from another thread about R4's 1830 offerings, makes me want to slam a door on my cock.

TsarChasm · 07/09/2008 21:24

Oh...ok then..Sidles off.

wessexgirl · 07/09/2008 21:27

Bluestocking . Quote Unquote is offensively smug, but JAM is very funny!

LittleBella · 07/09/2008 21:35

Oh no I'm with Bluestocking, I hate JAM. It would be OK if it were just one round in another show, like I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue but as a stand alone half hour show I just find it really annoying. Yes bits of it are funny but by that stage I've turned the radio off.

funnypeculiar · 07/09/2008 21:40

Not only do I love JAM, I actually get a real kick out of Quote Unquote, admittedly in a smug, Eng Lit student type way

Bluestocking · 07/09/2008 21:53

Oh, I should never have started thinking about QU - "devised and presented by Nigel Rees" - who the fucking fuck cares who devised it? And that vile little line that poor old Knickerless always has to say about "this marvellous game, cre-ated by Ian Messiter" - and do you remember poor old Janet Staplehurst, who "blew her whistle for us so delicately"?
owwww!!
