All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd love to be Brian's child or stepchild, or other unusual views.

Yes, I know Ruiari isn't called Aldridge but he is one.

I once had lunch in a cafe, decades ago - curry and rice with chips on the side. I still think of this sometimes. I also love carbs. Sadly, nowadays I just have to think of them and another couple of pounds land on my midriff.

I’m not keen on pasta and probably have it about once a year if I am supremely hungover. I don’t eat bread much either so may be that’s why I found Harrison and Chris’ dinner date noteworthy. Children in the UK seem to eat a lot of pasta nowadays.

In summertime, I am glued to Brad and Angelina’s rose rather than salad…

I too only remember the existence of pasta perhaps two or three times a year, generally as winter arrives. (Unless I’m cooking in someone else’s house, as other people always have some in their cupboards.) I may have consumed my lifetime’s share as a student; I certainly don’t dislike it, but it’s just not part of the way I usually eat these days.

Well, as it sounds as if this weeks’ episodes are underwhelming I will opine about pasta:

As a child, my first introduction to pasta was my mother and I visiting a school(mum)/friend’s house to watch Princess Anne’s first wedding on their colour telly (we were more of a book house, with lots of radios, but I think we had a small B&W TV). We had spag bol. I am not sure my mother ate pasta after that! Whilst she cantered into the Covid years, but she did tolerate a few chinese takeaways (so rice was okay, even it wasn’t baked to become a pudding).

I suspect Harrison used a jar of sauce, but my local Italian does a fab (pig’s cheek) carbonara with a drink for £12.50 as a lunch special.

Watching 'Fake or Fortune ' and Philip Mould has just said 'I' when he meant 'me'.

He said he was following a Jamie Oliver recipe, so I think we can absolve him of using a jar of carbonara sauce. I haven't made it that often, but it's so quick and easy that I can never understand using a jar instead.

My first experience of pasta was either macaroni cheese or tinned spaghetti hoops. We only had rice in our house in rice pudding or the very occasional Vesta meal.

No, I tell a lie - we also had rice in cock a leekie soup, which I've always loved.

I really enjoy pasta, but only in small quantities. We eat it at least once a week. The best pasta I have ever eaten was in Milan, at a friend's mum's house. "Obviously" she made her own ravioli from scratch and served its a starter in workman-sized portions! By the end of the meal I thought I was going to explode. Her husband and three "boys" obviously had no problems with it.

I was born in the mid 50s but my mum made spaghetti bolognaise regularly. Probably not very authentic but she was influenced by Italian neighbours when we lived abroad. I was born in a North African country and she also made kebabs using steel knitting needles. I eat pasta in some form 2 or 3 times a week.

However "myself" seems to be cropping up, used wrongly, in lots of sentences now.
I presume users think it sounds better than the shorter "me" or "I".

My mother started cooking pssta in the early 70s which was a revelation after the incredibly soft tinned stuff I'd had previously.
Hard to believe now, but a chef at the hotel where I had a holiday job in the early 80s served spaghetti as part of a hot buffet once. Since it was kept warm for ages it softened to the texture of mashed potato - absolutely foul.

We were offered cold spaghetti bolognaise as an option at a breakfast buffet in a hotel in Sofia, Bulgaria. I have been to a lot of countries including several in Central and Eastern Europe and can honestly say the food in Bulgaria was the worst I'd eaten anywhere until we got to Plovdiv and stayed in an expensive hotel. I'm sure Bulgarian home cooking is delicious but most of the hotel offerings were disgusting - half cooked chicken , rancid butter etc.

£5 entry to village fete is daft.

I would happily pay £5 not to go to the fete.
