Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd love to be Brian's child or stepchild, or other unusual views.

Joe or Joseph is a good shout!
Josephine or Joanne for a girl or Nicola or Nicholas for a boy.
I can't remember how close George and Nic were.

Can't see a Gen Z couple calling their baby Joanne or Nicola.

Unless they are huge Harry Potter/Strike fans or hardcore SNP supporters (well, the SNP as it was, before Murrellgate).

I’m sure I wrote a post suggesting ‘Joseph William’ if it’s a boy.

But I can’t find it on either thread. Probably posted it on S&B, or on the one about Thomas Tuchel …

I work in a nursery and believe me all these names are coming back. We have a Nicholas, Joanna, Joseph.

I am really starting to dislike Amber's parents (but enjoying the story line) and can see why Amber is so much happier with the Grundys

Willie Joe. Very traditional in Ireland. Maybe not so much in Ambridge.

Billie for a girl? (Wilhelmina.)

Would be in the ‘Keira’ tradition of celebrity namesakeing.

Bad penny returns - but must admit it was good to hear Brian getting told home truths after his patronising remarks to Bert who he'd see as one of the "lower classes".

Those are classic names that happened to be popular in the 1960s.
I can't see Nicola or Joanne making a comeback in the near future.

Bert is irredeemably awful.

I think Amber will go for a classic name e.g. Charlotte for a girl.

Is Harrison coming back for good now? Fallon couldn’t sound less excited about his return.

I couldn't agree more about Bert, @Eastie77Returns. His only virtue is utter consistency; horrible about his own family as much as Brine's. I wonder if his complete egocentricity is a compare and contrast with Brian's?

I listened this evening. All I can remember about it is that Bert was involved, and spoke, but how and why and what he said escapes me. It's like listening to cold porridge in a vacuum.

Bert's return reminded me that we've not heard from the Tegorrans for a while. Will SW forget about them or is Carol heading for a fall.

The last week or so has been just like that. I'm thinking of stopping listening for a while as I don't care what happens to any of them, at the moment, except the Aldridges. When I found myself reading my book while 'listening ' I thought it was bad!

But that's a tad difficult if they want to keep their plans a secret.

It's not that long since George was whinging about Nic hitting him when he was a child.

We've got an Eddie and an Ed. Maybe we need a little baby Edwina?

The obvious one is surely Joseph after Joe Grundy the baby's great granddad.
Or retro and have Jethro after Clarrie's dad?

They may not be insta worthy names.

It's a grown man speaking but a child was hit. How can that be a whinge? He wasn't the George the audience knows now.

Clarissa? I think George will want to call the baby George (or Georgina).

George was spoilt as a child and NIc gave him a slap when he was being more than a handful and she had two other children in her care, IIRC, and I think it was in a car park, and before slapping children was frowned upon the way it is now.

Billy for a boy seems a likely one (after both dads, if Amber can bear to name the child after one of her parents, that is!) Billie for a girl is a nice name and does have celebrity namesakes.
(That said, the writers will probably come up with something out of left field).
