Anybody listened to the R4 series / podcast about The Salt Path ? At first I thought it was an adaptation of the book (which I haven't read, nor have I seen the film) It really wasn't on my radar until I heard a few media reports about it and a thread popped up on AIBU. Anyway, it's 8 eps and I have just binged it going about my Sunday morning chores. It's fascinating ! Talk about smoke and mirrors.....anyway in the final eps there's a funny reveal 😉

Apologies, it's called Secrets of the Salt Path (clue in the title !)

I followed it when it was first reported - does the podcast add anything new? You might not know but it was first reported in the Observer here:

I see Chloe Hadjimatheou (original reporter) isn't listed on the credits, is she involved? I'm used to these types of podcasts being narrated by the reporters, does it feel different narrated by an actress?

Ah here's the original podcast too https://observer.co.uk/listen/the-walkers-the-real-salt-path

(Amusingly, lots of Observer/Tortoise Investigates podcasts are also on BBC Sounds - but The Walkers isn't)

I listened to the one above on Spotify - it's part of the Observer/Tortoise Investigates series (they did the brilliant Foundling podcast recently). First class journalism and a really good breakdown of exactly everything they lied about and the implications. What a pair of grifters.

No, I wasn't aware of these other sources - although the Observer investigation is obviously part of the narrative. I had no idea ! Gobsmacked 🤯 Going to check out these links, thank you 😘

The Walkers is great, enjoy. I did a quick search and is says the BBC (Wales) one is more focused on the Welsh community affected by the money stolen etc?

@Aintgointogoa I think on AIBU the Salt Path detectives are up to thread 26 or more now! Some of them have been quoted by Chloe the original investigator in other reporting and podcasts. I saw them start the first thread when the first Observer article came out that then rocked the publishing world and the podcasts and reporting seem to run and run.

interesting the bbc have now made a podcast too.
