Has anyone else listened to this?

Yes, I listened to them all today. What a turn of events! I can’t stop thinking about it. Best podcast I’ve listened to in a while. What are your thoughts?

SwedishSayna · 03/04/2026 17:53

Hi @VanillaDaydreamhow did you get hold of the whole series in one go?

Hi @VanillaDaydreamhow did you get hold of the whole series in one go?

I paid the subscription (and then cancelled!!) because I had to find out the rest. It is quite shocking to be honest but won’t post spoilers. I do wish Jess all the best given what she’s been through

For some reason the Observer/Tortoise online player won't work for me, I listened to the first two episodes on Spotify though. I think most Tortoise Investigates podcasts end up on BBC Sounds a few weeks later.

Not sure about this one - I feel they're milking it quite a bit 2 episodes in. Probably didn't help that I looked it up, so I already know what will happen in episode 3. Do they do some actual investigating and come up with new things in further episodes?

VanillaDaydream · 03/04/2026 19:40

Yes more things come up in the other episodes. Hopefully they can be accessed for free in a few weeks as it is well worth a listen.

The same as me, they hooked me in so I subscribed. Yes it doesn’t go where you expect it to. I was intrigued by the friends and family thinking she was pregnant and then disbelieving themselves. I wonder if Helen has found out anything about her father.

This was an interesting story! I really feel for Jess. Would love to know more about the birth mother and what happened to heR. There must have been trauma in her past
