He was so lovely. So understated. Good taste in music, and I really like the sound of his mum.

I heard snippets of this and intend to listen to the full thing later in the week.

I must say I really like Lauren Laverne as the presenter. I was disappointed when Kirsty Young had to give up and I'd never heard of Lauren prior to her taking over Desert Island Discs. But I find her really warm and human and interested in the guests. Quite a pleasure to listen to. Of course her wonderful accent helps.

Thanks OP - I'll listen tomorrow. I've found the guests quite tedious lately so good to have a recommendation.

Even though I know nothing about a lot of the guests before the programme starts I'm usually pleasantly surprised at how interesting I find them.

I must say though Ronnie Wood entirely lived up to expectations and I switched the programme off after a short time because I found his ego excruciating.

I mentioned four weeks ago on another thread that the Lennie James episode was excellent. Strongly recommended. Will catch up with T B-L asap.

Lennie James was excellent and moving, will look out for this one.
