All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that like George you like your steak very well done, or other unusual views.

For what it's worth, the BBC Archers characters pages have Phoebe as an Aldridge, which I agree is not logical at all. Kate is Madikane, Roy is Tucker, why would Phoebe be Aldridge?

Well she does have two children with that surname, so I imagine it would be a comfort to them that she hasn’t cut every last tie to the South African branch of her family. (Replying to @Agapornis.)

Thinking about it, though, Kate was an Aldridge when Phoebe was born in a tent at Glastonbury, so I imagine that was the name Kate put on the birth certificate. I assume Roy is on the birth certificate but it would have been Kate who did the registration, given that they were never married.

Yeah fair point - especially as she rarely seems to visit them! I think they may have mentioned Kate being in SA a few years ago? If my friends in real life are anything to go by, I'd expect an annual visit of either Nolly & Sipho to the UK or her in SA.

Kate had Phoebe years before she met Lucas Madikane.

I have a feeling Roy was not on Phoebe's birth certificate and had to fight hard to be allowed to see the baby at all: it took a blood test, and applying to a court for a Contact Order, a Parental Responsibility Order, and a Paternity Order. Or rather, to see Baby, which was what Kate called her for some months before opting for an Archer family name from several generations earlier. Kate had tried to take her out of the country rather than let her father have anything to do with her, and had to be stopped by a private detective just as they were about to board a boat.

(I think the first Phoebe Archer was the present one's great great great grandmother but I would have to count on my fingers. Um. John and Phoebe Archer were the parents of Dan (married to Doris) and those two were the parents of Jack Archer, who was the father of Jennifer Archer/Aldridge, who was the mother of Kate Aldridge, who was Phoebe's mother.)

Kate had Phoebe in June1998 and seems to have met Lucas Madikane (possibly in Kenya) in late1999 or early 2000. She had Noluthando, his daughter, in January 2001, and married him in April 2001.

Amber was lying about her parents. George knows she's not being honest about something.

New Amber sounds old enough to be George's mother.

George mentioned her spending time with Brad.

Old Amber (or pre-ick Amber) would have definitely let out one of her trademark squeals at the proposal and ring.

I’ve never been able to understand what Amber sees in George. At least when he was in prison there might have been an element of mystique (I’m still clear about the attraction- it was hardly a glamorous crime) now he’s out it’s plain to see there is nothing glamorous about him or his life.

Either Amber is going to pack George in (as we used to say in my yout), or we are going to meet her parents.
Joy is so annoying but then so is Susan.
I know she loves George to the ends of the earth, but to hand her notice in because noone wants to work with him is a bit silly, but so is Susan.
Also Mick, who I can't stand, has only been part of the scene for 5 mins and he does throw his weight around a lot.
Though I do see he is upset at what George did but has never really said anything to Alice being drunk in the car in the first place which led up to all of this.

If your choice is between Brad and George then life choices should be questioned. She really needs to go travelling or something and forget about the losers of Ambridge
