Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that, or other unusual views.

Did Jack (presumably Archer, not Woolley) sign up of his own accord? I think these days people tend to confuse that with hanging on to be "called up" in the hope that it wouldn't happen, and use called-up for both.

When the announcer said about Elizabeth's dream, my mind immediately went to Dallas, when Pam saw the (dead) Bobby in the shower, and said, 'o,what a dream I've had, thereby wiping out the previous two series.

Nigel didn't fall off the roof and the last 14 years been a horrible nightmare.

Read that as “Joy skins Saskia” which seems a bit extreme but I’ll take it

Agree with PP that I don’t know where Bennie and the Jets Bairns fits into the story. I bet the SW haven’t decided yet but I’ve decided he’s much older and possibly he shacked up with her when she was late teens and quickly had two kids with her and she then ran off.

As far as we know has she seen them since Christmas? When did Joy last see them? Are they really real? I feel like they’re Schrodinger’s Brats.

Rochelle still sounds 14

So, mid-40s? She seems to have a mental age of about 14.

I don’t think we should take joy’s word that Rochelle was born not long after the wedding, that could mean anything. I think she’s probably within a year of 40 either way - not to be cynical but the way Vince reacted to her suggests he thinks she’s pretty young, and no one has suggested there’s much of an age gap with Rex.

And so it goes on. It’s just all so boring. I thought I would enjoy having a listen in the bath but I got so cross with both strands of the episode that I couldn’t relax and had to get out after about 10 mins. A total waste of two caps of my lovely lavender bath oil.

Rochelle was 15 in the late 90s, so in 1997, 1998 or 1999 so born 1982, 1983 or 1984, so depending on when her birthday is she's between 40 to 43.

Isn't it just. And instead of making me more interested in VE Day it's having exactly the opposite effect.

But still mentally stuck in the "IT'S SO UNFAIR!!!" stage of teenagitude. Sensible people either get over it, or simply stop engaging with the parent.

Gnasher's moments of kindness are few and far between and no doubt with the intention it will be to her advantage.

She's an interesting character but a horrible person. I have to deal with a real life Gnasher- awful, untrustworthy person.

Please don't let this drag out with Rochelle, her voice is grating my skull, I had to pause at the police station scene!

The bairns aren't bairns at all? To me (Scottish) the term bairn means a kid of primary school age or less, not a teenager.

One of Rochelle’s teen kids getting involved with a protest would have been a much more sensible SL. Not that we had the slightest clue that any of them were remotely local until a couple of weeks ago. Joy would have been stalking them in a flash!

County Shows seem to be kicking off in my neck of the woods. I want to hear about Ed and his Texels(?)
