I recently discovered these on Youtube: classic fairy tales such as Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland etc. done as dramatic plays, accompanied by classical music, and voiced by very skilled actors, some of whom went on to become big names, such as Robert Hardy (Minister of Magic in the Harry Potter films).
My grandparents had the record of one of these (The Ugly Duckling), which I loved as a child, and even then, I thought it was really cleverly done, with the use of music, and it's not just the stories being told; it's acted, and you can really feel the emotion in the characters' voices. I recently listened my way through all of these, and I think some of them are quite special in their own way.
Does anyone else know these? Here's a link to one of them. They are a bit of their time, (with lines such as "I'm happy and gay!"), as to be expected, but I think they're worth a listen.
