Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you fancy Mucky Mick, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

The scars from Scambridge week will take some healing. Most of us felt we were the ones scammed - where was The Archers we know and (very occasionally) love?

Anyway, onwards and - almost certainly not - upwards. Will it be the best Christmas ever in Ambridge? Do we still care? Over to you!

Brenda is going a great job of (presumably deliberately) winding everyone up. And I am warming to Natasha, who is an excellent character to throw in among the BFNI.

And yes, well done Vince. That was kind. Hopelessly and falsely optimistic, but kind.

Scambridge · 20/12/2024 20:09

@Sidebeforeself , 2 cheeses, yoghurts, ice creams.

@BinaryDot , they'll have another set of twins, Victor and Griffin.

Bruisername · 20/12/2024 20:38

Is there anywhere to read a synopsis of the last few days?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/12/2024 20:45

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qpgr/episodes/player If you click on Show more for each date you get a synopsis. For some reason it's missing for the last couple of days. There's also the Ambridge Reporter - very detailed. https://ambridgereporter.org.uk/synopses/2024.html#December

That's cheating! You need to listen (and suffer) like the rest of us.

OverArmour · 20/12/2024 20:55

From what I could work out, Helen wanted to buy the house until Kirsty said she couldn’t have the curtains 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bruisername · 20/12/2024 20:58

I can’t find the last 3 episodes summarised anywhere. I’m just so tired I can’t face giving 45 mins of my life to it when I could be sleeping!

BBC Sounds should have the synopsis under each episode

This.

I rarely listen live due its being 6.00.a.m. in Australia when TA comes on.

BBC Sounds usually has the synopsis but sometimes randomly has the cast list instead. Confused

BinaryDot · 20/12/2024 19:46

I had to check that TomTash did not, in fact, call their twins Astra and Nova. Arf.

I like Natasha too.

The twins are Sarin and Novichok

Nicknames Pinky and Perky

JoelenesParrot · 20/12/2024 21:46

‘Easiest house sale ever’…Oh dear 🤦‍♀️

It has the cast list on Fridays, as a rule, not on other days. Usually they remember to put the synopsis up for a Friday after the cast list has been there for about a week after a Friday episode has been broadcast; about five times a year or so they don't.

RegimentalSturgeon · 20/12/2024 23:14

I think they leave updating it to the office cat at times. And the office cat -I know this for a factoid - has been on the Baileys all week. 🐈‍⬛

BeatriceBatchelor · 20/12/2024 23:17

Predictably, Brenda is fast becoming insufferable. In record time.

And I never get why women refer to "my kitchen" - surely it's just the kitchen?

TherapistInATabard · 20/12/2024 23:23

I thought for a moment there, Natasha was going to put an offer to Brenda for Willow Farm!

Nettleteaser101 · 21/12/2024 05:15

I bet Kirsty cant wait to get rid of her house to whom ever, and buy Rex/Roys? Cant remember which, so she can just shut the door on everyone and Brenda. So they can stop poking thier noses in her affairs. Me too this house sale is dragging on and Brenda needs to be told to do one. She is so horrible and intrusive, its not like its her house for sale.
Fallen has gone on long enough about her George. If this was real life and Fallon kept going on and sighing I would think everyone whould give her a wide berth.

muddyford · 21/12/2024 05:36

Brenda is Roy's agent (and presumably Hailey's) in the house sale so it's definitely her business. I don't know why she didn't have a room at Grey Gables though. George is Emma's son, not Fallon's.

TottersBlanklyBoundInTinsel · 21/12/2024 06:45

Well, if she’d stayed at GG we wouldn’t have had the most delicious moment of the year - poor Natasha’s I don’t always dress like this.

In truth I can also understand why Brenda might genuinely prefer to spend a few nights in her old home with someone she knows. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels this year (not in Dubai or Miami!) and it’ll be a while before I can face another one, even though I generally like them.

Ficklemind · 21/12/2024 07:00

Well done Emma, love it when someone breaks away from what they're expected to do that would be stressful.

Nettleteaser101 · 21/12/2024 07:20

Thanks *muddyford for correcting me. I must have had a sleepy head on this morning. I didnt know Brenda was an official *agent for Roy. I just thought she was just kindly sorting it out for him. Even though I still think she is quite rude about it to Kirsty , as if she will profit from the sale or something. And ofcourse Emma is George's mum and she is still boring as is the story line.

Nettleteaser101 · 21/12/2024 07:22

Opps thought I had taken off the bold lettering, before someone points that out too.

My kitchen is my kitchen because its my workspace, organised and set up for my requirements, just as my desk is my desk, not a desk, or as my laptop that I'm writing this on is not just a laptop.

BeatriceBatchelor · 21/12/2024 08:32

Do you live alone? If not, does no one else use the kitchen, even if it's just to make a hot drink, a sandwich or pop something in the microwave? DH is the cook in this house but he's not territorial about the kitchen.

CaptainMyCaptain · 21/12/2024 08:36

I probably wouldn't say my kitchen out loud but it definitely is. If my husband empties the dishwasher, first I have to leave the room because he does it in such a disorganised way and I can't watch and secondly I can't find anything. I like to know exactly where my potato peeler or a certain bowl is and not have to search for it.
