Whispering Bob's doing well so far (Radio 2 Sounds of the 70s)

Enjoying Sounds of the 70s with Whispering Bob Harris. I'm still very sad that Johnnie Walker has had to retire, but Bob's credentials are impeccable and his playlist today is great. Sensible to make a few changes to put his own stamp on things, and particularly sensible to draw on the Old Grey Whistle archive for live performances.

Interesting that he's mentioned it's a live show so he can respond to messages during the 2 hours. I think JW used to do it live but for obvious reasons recently couldn't do that.

Ah thanks for posting this as did not know Whispering Bob has the job & will tune in ( also so sorry about Johnnie Walker )

Great that it is live & using the Whistle Test archive , I see fro his website it is very comprehensive

Very musically-knowledgeable friend loved one of his live appearances last year

I think he was much better the second week. He seemed to relax a bit.

It must be a difficult show to take over abc it has the added complication that they've been colleagues for so long.

It's ok but JW is a hard act to follow and yes better 2nd week

I always enjoyed his shows when he stood in for Johnnie and he's a great replacement. I will miss Johnnie, I have listened to him since his Radio 1 days in the 70s.
I was worried they'd replace him with a clueless "celebrity".

OP here, a few weeks on. I have absolutely loved listening to Johnnie Walker in recent years and while Bob is doing a good job it's very different. Ah well.
