Did Amol Rajan panic anyone else out of bed this morning?

He announced it was two minutes to 8 on the Today programme at 0658 this morning. I jumped out of bed and was yelling for the DC to get up and they were going to be late for school. DS ran into the shower and was aghast when he got out and I told him it was only 0710. Apparently he "can't be awake at 7!"

Lol, yes. I had a mild panic. Surprised they didn't immediately correct

It happens fairly regularly on Today. I've learned to double check whatever they say.

My dc would die of jealousy to know that there's school aged kids out there who don't have to get up till gone 7!

They get a late start on Wednesdays. DS once came back home and went back to bed when he realised halfway to school that he'd forgotten it was a Wednesday.

@Fink ds gets up at around 8. Needs to be in school for nine and it's about a 10 minute walk!🚶‍♀️

I could get the whole house cleaned before the school run if we didn't leave till 8.45! DC used to have to leave at 7.15 for primary but now it's 7.40 for secondary. And we're lucky - we're the 9th stop on the school bus route. I travelled a long distance to my own secondary school so I just assumed we were normal. The kids definitely don't have time for morning showers (I do), but we've got a teen who manages to find time to style hair and do make up (which is more than I manage!).

Anyone can make a mistake but it should be corrected immediately. I wasn’t listening this morning but I’ve had that startle before!

I don't like Amol Rajan on it. Loved John Humphrys.

I can't listen to radio4 in the morning any more. It makes me depressed

I am also a big Amol fan. He’s clever, charming and not too stuffy.
