Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd have been delighted with a hand-painted squirrel tray for your 40th, as shown below, or other unusual views.

All I have to say about current storylines for now is that I want the George Alice crash stuff to come to a resolution, sooner rather than later, and I also want to hear very little indeed of Alistair, Denise and Paul maundering on. More of Jakob would be very welcome. His brother can come back any time too.

I reckon it's Meg. She was written in for a reason. And he sounded pleading, which isn't the way you'd hire a hitman, or even Uncle Clive.

And he's going to lie low for a bit, while Will and Emma go spare, because they won't know whether or when to report him missing, let alone say why.

(I hope it's Clive though because that will be more fun.)

It sounded like someone he knew but not v well. If it was a relative he'd have identified himself as Will's son or maybe "Eddie's grandson". But how would he square asking Meg for help, hmmm

And I suspect it won't be on Monday that we find out who he was ringing, only that he's not come home from The Bull.

Ditto exactly what @Brefugee posted. The George will he won't he is getting so boring now, Paul is a twunt, next Sunday better bring the crash story to a resolution ffs.

No, he didnt address them by name. He introduced himself “Hello, it’s George, George Grundy”. He was talking to an answerphone, and he didn’t know the person well. The BBC blurb on iplayer said “… and George takes shocking action” It’s turning into a bit of a farce.

Perhaps George is going to cadge a lift on Johnny's ship which just happens to be moored nearby.

Or maybe he’ll hire Rex’s getaway boat-taxi service?

Redeemed in part by George's parents being on the side of truth ( and so we don't have some drawn-out and boring defence of George)

So it’s someone who knows him by name but not well enough for him just to be “George” or to recognise his voice.

I do think he’s going to do a runner and Meg would be a good shout, perhaps she’s offered him the opportunity to stay and see Bartleby. George seems to be one for acting first then trying to work out what to do afterwards, so a sudden disappearing act would be par for the course.

If he's done a runner, it would be nice to think that Emma and Will will go and tell the police exactly what he's said. However, I fear that would be too sensible.

I suspect the phone call is an attempt to fund a one-way Eurostar ticket to a French Foreign Legion recruiting office.

I'm running out of patience with this storyline. The ability to binge-watch TV programmes has likely interfered with my reserves. Am at least half tempted to stop listening during the week and just catch up on Sundays when the tortoises drawing the storyline forward will have moved a little further along.
