Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd have been delighted with a hand-painted squirrel tray for your 40th, as shown below, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

All I have to say about current storylines for now is that I want the George Alice crash stuff to come to a resolution, sooner rather than later, and I also want to hear very little indeed of Alistair, Denise and Paul maundering on. More of Jakob would be very welcome. His brother can come back any time too.

I now declare this thread open for business!

Is he bribing Bartleby home??

Under what logic?

Bruisername · 22/08/2024 19:20

So Roy went from wanting to rent it out to wanting to sell in a day?

is Kirsty going to evict Helen?

who will buy Roy’s house I wonder

Abra1t · 22/08/2024 19:21

Alf?

TottersBlanklyIntoThePhysicGarden · 22/08/2024 19:21

Something Emma would particularly dislike …

Surely a bad seed Horrobin?

JanglyBeads · 22/08/2024 19:26

*bringing

TottersBlanklyIntoThePhysicGarden · 22/08/2024 19:27

Possibly Kirsty might move in with Helen?

Like Oliver with the Grundys.

But in the meantime where will Denise live? The Dower House must have plenty of room - and she’s friendly with Lilian. Or Ambridge Hall? (Who’d pay?)

Yes that does make more sense. Well, ever so slightly

It’s all being set up for Ali Stare to buy Willow cottage with Duh Knees!
Hello! Don’t post often but a frequent reader.
Wasn’t there a time when Kirsty had a thing against Jim, but then got to know him? I wonder if she will move in with Jim and A and D will buy Willow Cottage. I can’t see Kirsty evicting Hellin or moving back in to the House of Evil on her own.

Eastie77Returns · 22/08/2024 20:19

House of Evil😂

I can’t imagine any single woman Kirsty’s age wanting to move into a house share that included 2 noisy young boys. Her housing situation and that of Helen’s is mental really. Both renting for years when they could surely live in properties they own. Helen could get help from the bank of mum and dad and buy a modest 3 bed. Kirsty could have sold the evil house and easily bought a 1 bed flat with the proceeds.

Do you mean Willow Farm? Willow Cottage does not belong to Roy.

MereDintofPandiculation · 22/08/2024 20:25

Kirsty could have sold the evil house and easily bought a 1 bed flat with the proceeds. Why would she want a one bed flat?

TottersBlanklyIntoThePhysicGarden · 22/08/2024 20:29

Brilliant thought, @devoncreamtea!

I'd absolutely love a 1 bed flat - I remember the sheer joy of not having people to stay for more than a night or so, because they always felt guilty when I gave up my bedroom to them and slept on the (very comfortable) sofa-bed.

TamzinGrey · 22/08/2024 21:03

Does anyone know the current whereabouts of Great Uncle Clive? Could he be George's mysterious companion perhaps?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/08/2024 21:11

But why would George think Clive could or would help him? He was asking for a favour when he left the message on whoever-it-was's phone.

WagnersFourthSymphony · 22/08/2024 21:14

He's bringing Bartleby back? Grin

nextdoorconundrum · 22/08/2024 21:41

In what way can this POSSIBLY be linked to Hazel - the Arch villainess 'spectre' of Ambridge .. ???

Yes I know it makes no sense.. just saying..

I'm not convinced he'd know Clive well, but he'd be a poor choice anyway. George needs help from someone who knows how to keep put of prison, not someone who's in and out like a trampolinist.

Scarydinosaurs · 22/08/2024 21:48

Whoever George is with has fed him well.

He doesn’t have any other adult interested in him! Oliver??

MereDintofPandiculation · 22/08/2024 21:53

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/08/2024 20:52

To live in?

Why wouldn't she sell the house of doom and buy a house? Why is it always thought that single woman should live in 1-bed flats? Why would Kirsty not want a garden?

WagnersFourthSymphony · 22/08/2024 21:55

I can't think why George is coming back or who he's bringing with him. Or why he'd bring anyone back. That's why I joked about Bartleby, but that doesn't make much sense either.

What's Uncle Alf up to these days? Still inside?

We've sorted that one by repurposing the spare bedroom and not having a bed in it. Guests are welcom to take the sofa or erect a tent in the garden. No-one has yet..

Bruisername · 22/08/2024 21:58

I suppose it comes down to what Kirsty can afford - could she does the mortgage on the house on her own or does she need Helen’s rent?

although the mortgage fairy probably means she can - will seems to be able to afford his mortgage on his part time delivery wage

I know a couple with a 5 bed house and they have an ironing room, a walk in wardrobe room, a library and I can’t remember the other
