Has anyone listened to this? Is it really annoying or surprisingly good?

I came here to look for others who have listened and liked it.
I love the content they talk about but there is something a little vacuous.
Maquita (?spelling) talks about her "career" in every episode.
Lily frequently says "my husband,David" - as if we/macquita didn't know his name.

They are an interesting couple though, seemingly really close and have had interesting lives/childhoods.

As the podcast progresses Lily starts to look more and more like an awful toxic friend.

And both of them are SO in denial about their privilege.

They are witty though, so I am enjoying it.

I've been listening since it launched. I love the nostalgic chat about the 90s/00s, their obviously close relationship, their frankness, their wit, that it's two youngish women, talk on topics that I don't hear on my usual podcasts (stuff relating to being a woman of their/my age). They can be a bit vacuous at times & I was shouting at the radio during the astrology episode, but overall I've been really enjoying it.

my takes:
I think Lilly is very bright but quite spiky. I admire her honesty but she seems competitive and a bit condescending with Miquita / has thrown her under the bus a few times. I find her entertaining but I don’t think we would get on with her if we happened to come across each other in real life. I realise she had a tough childhood though and an even tougher time being a young person in the spotlight so kudos to her for turning her life around. I hope she’ll be happy in New York with David.

Miquita is lovely - I hope she gets a history show out of this as I think she’d be amazing. I love her obvious interest in the world and her kindness and positivity.

The more I listen, the more I really dislike Lilly.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that nearly all the female listeners who call in have the same cool girl accent… it’s really odd to me! I’m in my 50 ‘s so probably a bit out of touch but I do have teenagers and they definitely don’t sound like this nor do their friends!

Just listened to the Simon Amstell episode for this week. SO much better.

I see this is originally from the summer. I have been listening to miss me from the start it's one I love to hate tbh.

Miquita comes across as very uneducated in parts which...she is I suppose. Lily is very self absorbed and hard work. They both think the other is more talented and famous than they actually are. However I can't stop listening!

I have listened to this podcast from the start and really enjoy it. I like them both but probably prefer Miquita. The last episode with Simon Amstell was great.

Miquita just seems like a much nicer person than Lilly. It seems like they are just friends because of their families.

Miquita is quite odd though, proper arrested development vibes.

And the revelations about their upbringing are quite something

I find the podcast really interesting - for a bbc podcast, they are very candid. Poor lily, I do feel sorry for her and her very public break up with David. It went very quickly from "my husband David" and him having her girls when she was away with work to suddenly her cutting him out of her life. She's also looked poorly for a while. I've loved the episodes with Simon Amstell, pop world is probably in my favourite ever tb programmes, it was so irreverent and funny, but covered all the pop stars I loved too. They were a fabulous double act considering they were both young unknowns. I wonder how lily will be when she returns, whether she will speak of the last few months. She's quite a complex individual, having had a baby die, been a young star, had very famous and well connected parents who weren't always there for her, and now her second marriage has failed. I hope she finds some peace soon.

I'm still listening. It's quite interesting, comforting almost like listening in to friends having a chat. They are a similar age to me some of their points of reference feel familiar.

Miquita is still irritating me a little.
Seems to refer to all family friends as cousins. Not sure why it's irritating but that's just me.

It's a nice easy listen on my work commute.

Anyone picking up on a new vibe since Lilly returned? Like Miquita seems more assertive and stands up to Lilly’s diva shit a bit more? There was a prickly exchange about the fact Lilly was able to drop everything and go into therapy for a month which most of us can’t do due to our regular obligations and commitments. Lilly doesn’t seem to spend much time with her girls. I wonder how the live sessions will go? 🍿

I thought this thread had been pulled tried to find it after the "tax" episode...omg that was DIRE!!! Seriously why would they do a podcast on something they clearly k ow so little about it was embarrassing.

Furthermore....today's episode they call out the "mumsnet bitches" waves hi girls... then lily apologises for calling out Katy perry in her space journey and said this was internalised misogyny...but it's OK for mumsnet pitches to be labelled as such.... honestly it's like hanging out with two friends I just love to hate 😅

Wondering if Lily will return; will the break become permanent? I like guests but 2-3 episodes is enough.

I stopped listening after their "summer hiatus" why has lily gone off? Im not going to be listening again though, I used to love to hate it and then I realised I just hated it 😅
