I’m sorry I haven’t a clue - anyone been to a recording?

The show is being recorded in a theatre near us soon but the only tickets left are at the back of the circle.

Do they also film the teams and broadcast the images on a screen during the recording ?

They didn’t put it on screens when we went, but that was ages ago, with Humph, and dear Tim BT.
It was fabulous, though. They recorded two programmes on the one night.

Yes I’ve been to a few. It’s simply the teams sitting on the stage in front of microphones. No cameras or anything.
It takes around 45 minutes to an hour to record one episode and you get two episodes and you do get to see the laser screen display board!

Thanks for the info.
think we’ll keep the £32 in our pockets this time!

I went to one in Torquay which was a sell out. Such talented comedians but quite scripted. It was only one episode and a lot ruder than the radio version. They edit a lot out! I loved it and would go again at the drop of a hat but they don’t come west of Bristol very often.

You'll miss out if you don't go. You'll never see the laser display board in it's full glory, or find out what Sven and Samantha look like.

I went about 20 years ago. Just as everyone else had said. 2 episode, about 45-50 mins to record each. Very funny, great night. Definitely go!

Oh definitely go! It’s quite basic and you forget its a radio show more like a uni review

We saw them both, one for each episode recorded. They were never on the stage together.

I’ve subscribed to the BBC email list for show recordings.
I fear if we went to this one we would be so far back we’d not tell the difference between Sven and Samantha.

I’ve seen them both too! I saw an episode with Steven Fry and Sven was there and on another one with Jack Dee with Humph, I saw Samantha.

I loved joining in Karoke okey! We were awful! 🤣

I've been to see it last year. I'm glad I went because I love the show and it was great to see Sven and Samantha after a long time listening. BUT it was SO long, and the re-records of bits they fluffed up kinda made it lose its sparkle for me. It's also 100% scripted and I assumed that at least some of it was improvised but it seems not.

I went to a non recorded ‘best of’ tour last week. I have not laughed so much in ages. Yes it was scripted but lots of off the cuff, and swearing. Very talented singing too. We the audience were rubbish on the kazoo though.

I’ve been to one and it was brilliant. Not cheap but worth every penny to see Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graham Garden, Barry Cryer and Jeremy Hardy. There was a LOT of material that could never be broadcast on R4!

Sadly I only saw Samantha but the laser display board was definitely worth experiencing.
