Did anyone else hear this while reaching for the tissues?

Heartbreaking to hear him talk about the loss of his mum aged 14 and his dad in 2021.

I felt they cut loads - I'd love to hear an extended edition! His choice of book was very sweet.

It really was a brilliant episode wasn't it?

It was really touching wasn’t it? I’ve always avoided 50 Shades but it made me want to seek out other things he’s been in.

I'd highly recommend The Tourist. I might rewatch S1 with the context of his dad dying while he's in Australia. His performance in S2 came across as less stressed to me.
He hasn't done any radio drama, right? Such a nice voice.

The Fall is brilliant too, with him and Gillian Anderson.

Loved this episode - it is by go to when out for a walk choosing someone to listen to .... have gone back years and recently listened to Jacqueline du Pre - the cellist. Incredibly sad too Daffodil

I loved it, very moving. I haven't really watched anything he's been in but might go looking now. I listen while walking the dog!

I listened to it and it's set me off. I lost my Dad last year..

He always comes across very well.

Also, he was at my uni almost same time as me...our paths could have crossed (although I'm much older than him..i was doing masters)😮

I’d heard him talk about losing his mum as a teen before, and hearing him talk about the loss of his mum, dad and friends on this, you could hear how emotional he got, it was very moving and made me cry.

His love for his family really came across and he seems lovely. I loved his songs and book choice!

He was great in The Fall and I’ve just finished series 2 of The Tourist and really enjoyed it. I’ve watched Fifty Shades, it was never going to be received well by critics, but take it for what it is and it’s all good. I think it was a good career move for him, got him more well known and I’m sure made him lots of money so good on him. He’s very likeable.

The bit about his mum and his mates is so touching and heartbreaking 😥 He sounds like such a talented actor. It's a really good episode. I wonder if he did any Audiobooks? Probably not.

I heard this episode quite by chance as I was in my car at the right time when it was on the radio. I sat on my driveway until it was over and found it just wonderful to listen to. He came across really well. Very touching.

Edited

He’s done some sleep sound audio story things, available on Audible. I can’t vouch for them though, I just remember seeing the advert.

I always thinks he comes across well too. Thanks for flagging this, I don’t tend to listen to R4 regularly but hoping I can catch up on BBC Sounds.
