Murder they wrote BBC sounds

Has anyone listened to Laura Whitmore & Iain Stirling discuss real life murder cases? I usually love listening to this genre, love shows where unsolved crimes are looked at again with fresh eyes. This is not one of them! Laura giggling & giving shocked gasps as Iain tells the facts of a case from the 1970s. Feels wrong that someone’s death is being treated as light entertainment but perhaps I’m not the target audience.

Based on your non-recommendation, I've just wasted two minutes of my life that I won't get back on the first episode of that. They hadn't even got into the story before I found them both so irritating that I switched off. Credit to them, though, for being simultaneously dull and annoying.

EVHead · 07/11/2023 21:48

Yeah I tried and they just annoyed me.

Glad I’m not alone. I feel like they are both so disrespectful in the way they discuss the murder.

I gave up after about 3 mins of inane waffle (I have low tolerance). It seems like that was the right decision!

It's awful 😖 they're both unlistenable (if that's a word!)

Two of the most irritating people/voices together?? Who thought that was a good idea. BUT discussing real-like murders in such a jocular, disrespectful way is not good. It's terrible. I actually can't listen - I got 1/2 way through Ep 1 and that's it. Done.

Can anyone recommend a podcast like this, that's actually any good? I usually like cold case/true crime type things and am looking for a new one

I enjoy listening to the true crime section on BBC sounds. A few that come to mind:
lady killers Lucy Worsley
The cruelty a child unclaimed
fairy meadow
The boy in the woods
tge kidnapping of Stephanie Slater
Mattan
The doorstep murder

Oh this show is awful. Two try-hard voices being jokey about real crimes. What a terrible idea.

OP I have listened to Paradise and Vishal on BBC Sounds and they were excellent.

thesurreyyouth · 12/01/2024 22:31

I listened to Paradise a few years ago & still remember how full of life the couple sounded on the tapes they sent home. Every now & then I check to see if there’s been an update or further developments.

Yes, sat down with a cup of tea looking to hear something good. It is not that. They have the wrong people doing this. These two should be on Runaround, Tiswaz or Cheggars Plays Pop.
