To think cancel culture has stifled late night chat shows?

I remember the good old days of Caesar the geezer when people phoned in and basically spoke their minds with fierce debate from opposing points of view. The show was incredible. Ive been looking for something similar to listen to at night but can find nothing . I think maybe radio stations are just not willing to risk being taken off air .

Had to look up who that was, Wikipedia tells me he's not had a national show since 1995. I don't think you can blame cancel culture for having been off air for 28 years Grin
Back to what you're looking for - aren't those types of people on the likes of GB News, Twitter, their own podcasts etc these days? I'm not surprised they've moved away from phone-ins, when your very own podcast gives you as much airtime as you want.

I blame cancel culture for no longer having late night chat shows . They were great all sorts of topics the best ones were about seances and witchcraft, social services , drug dealing etc as well as controversial topics such as the police , racism and sexism. There were often guest speakers too . I think it's just too much of a minefield now . There were local phone in late night chat shows too .

'Cancel culture' is right-wing code for being aggrieved because someone doesn't agree with you. My FIL says it's 'cancel culture' because I won't read the Daily Mail.

Well yeah. And I don’t agree that those programmes don’t exist any more, but radio trends have changed.

Anyway, I love a good phone-in. A strong one will robustly challenge all views and perspectives. Always good to hear the unedited thoughts of those you don’t agree with.

The majority of the content wasn't right wing . You had people of very different views debating with each other so it all balanced out .
