Radio 4 play - Wasps in a Jar - worth a listen if you remember Geoffrey Howe's resignation speech

Bravura performances by Penelope Wilton as Elspeth Howe and Harriet Walter as Margaret Thatcher. James Fleet did an excellent job of capturing Geoffrey Howe's rather quiet, occasionally hangdog demeanour. Took me right back. We have turbulent politics now, but it's useful to be reminded that the end of the 1980s and the start of the 1990s was extremely eventful.

Thanks, Gasp, I haven't listened to it all, but it's definitely worth a listen.

I listened this afternoon - I can thoroughly recommend it.

Me too. It was easy to listen to without being light.

Didn't want to start a separate thread, but did anyone hear Wednesday's The Skewer (21/06/23)? Shock

I don't remember the speech, but I love this series. The IVF one was a very good listen too.

I didn't but that is a deeply weird programme, always! Kind of unsettling.
