Am I the only one to think this comedy is pretty woeful? The endless jokes about dumb, entitled holidaymakers and DFLs buying up every inch of Cornwall. The good natured yet wily Cornish folk laughing behind their backs. Selling their garden waste as Celtic art, etc etc. And repeat. I get that the BBC needs to represent and support marginalised regions but this was like attending a primary school drama production where a fixed encouraging smile is a pre requisite no matter how dire the performance. In case anyone is wondering, I don’t own a second home in Cornwall, last time I holidayed there about 15 years ago I stayed in a youth hostel.

Hard agree.

Christ yes! Caught this the other day and couldn’t quite believe how unfunny it was!

Live in Cornwall and have never heard of it. Sounds awful! (what's a DFL?)

TheGander · 20/07/2023 21:38

Down From Londoner. Shorthand for clueless, entitled and dumb on these sorts of shows.

Ah, I see. Not heard that one before!

I don't know. There's the germ of an idea there but the sketches were a bit hit and miss, but that's the same with a lot of sketch shows, at least those written by a bunch of people? I liked the pastiche of the Scandi noir thriller and the shanty singers giving advice.

TheGander · 24/07/2023 14:29

I must admit I didn’t listen to all of them as I was a bit put off by the couple of episodes I listened to. Always up for a scandi noir pastiche though! And shanty singers giving advice could be good too.
