I can recommend following his twitter feed to find out where he is and what he's up to 😀 It's entertaining. twitter.com/RevRichardColes

Yes very sad!

We're not fans of any of the current crop of celebrity vicars really, e.g. Richard Coles and Kate Bottley. But they are popular with others and I think there's a place for them in the BBC which is, after all, supposed to be representative of the nation as a whole and offer variety and plurality both on screen and on air.

And I'll always love him for the Communards.

I'm not particularly a fan of his, but I will miss his presence on Saturday Live. I don't particularly like or dislike Saturday Live but it was usually better with him on it.

So many much-loved voices are leaving R4, and being replaced by much younger and diverse voices. Not that that's an issue in itself, but I sometimes feel that they are alienating the core audience.

What a shame. I listened to his memoir about losing his husband and it was so, so moving and beautifully sad.

Totally agree - I love him on Saturday Live. His various autobiographical books are excellent, and now he's started a crime novel series.
His new podcast with Earl Spencer, "Rabbit Hole Detectives", is well worth a listen.

In my opinion, Richard Coles is far more interesting, intelligent, acerbic and discerning than Kate Bottley, who is a bit too much of a "celeb vicar" for me. But there should be a place for both if them on the airwaves.

Saturday Live without Richard Coles is more AntnDec than Radio 4. Radio 4 is being dumbed down, podcastised, slowly being made unlistenable. It used to be on from 7am to 8pm in our house, but rarely turned on now ( The Archers, John Finnemore, David Sedaris, Jim Al-Kalili and Alfie Moore and a very few others).

I didn't listen to it yesterday, but noticed it was shorter, and that The Week in Westminster was in an earlier slot.
I agree about the podcast format taking over.
I am switching off more and more often.
