Anyone else dislike when your podcast has guests

I don't like it. I'm possessive of my podcast 'friends' and almost always hate the guests they introduce. I'm not talking about something like Adam Buxton where the whole format is about having guests and they're usually great, but when your usual hosts are replaced by a new person.

Recently my beloved Anna from No Such Thing As A Fish has gone on maternity leave and will now be replaced by an assortment of guests. They've replaced hosts before when they've been unavailable for an episode or two, and I usually don't like the replacements. I would rather they just went ahead with one less host.

Before this Frank Skinner's show replaced one of the long time hosts with no announcement whatsoever - just started having different guests in his place. Poor Alan never got a send off or even a mention again. I won't listen to it now in protest.

Is anyone else this invested in their podcast friends

Re Frank Skinner / Alun Cochrane - Alun had said it was totally Frank Skinner’s decision, a lot of listeners were concerned where Alun had gone as as you say, it was never referred to on the show. They all seemed such good friends but obviously not. Now replaced by Pierre ?Novelli who supports Frank on tour.

I always felt that Alun was a victim of subtle workplace bullying and that Frank didn't like him much. For example Alun's microphone was always much quieter than Frank and Emily's!

NSTAAF had Lucy Porter in to replace Anna this week and I like her, she fits in well. So maybe it will work out ok Smile

I was very cross when Poppy got booted off Gossipmongers. Apparently it wasn't handled very well at all by Joe Wilkinson and David Earle which is a real shame as I like them both and I don't like imagining them displaying bullying or unpleasant behaviours.

Yes I know what you mean. Sometimes it's great, sometimes not. Dana Schwartz's guest appearance on you're wrong about led me to noble blood. I think it's because of the uncertainty it creates. Like when you need to thrash out relationship drama with your mates and one of them brings a random so the dynamic changes.

I'm having a 'mare lately as one of my favourite podcasts No Such Thing As A Fish has lost one of its presenters, Anna, to maternity leave and is featuring different replacements every week. One in particular was just terrible and I wish there was a way to delete an episode from the feed (I play podcasts on a loop at night and keep waking up and that one's playing 😂).

It changes the whole atmosphere of the show and I wish people wouldn't do it.

I prefer Parenting Hell when it's Josh and Rob just talking. I hate it's gone down to 40 minutes now it's on Spotify as well!
