It’s A Fair Cop?

Any one listen to this? The latest series just seems to have stopped after 3 episodes. I was really looking forward to it starting again. Usually there’d be about 6 episodes. Anyone know why they’d only commission/broadcast so few episodes.

Series 7? They're all on BBC sounds.

TeenDivided · 21/11/2022 07:59

There were 6 episodes. Ace programme.
Speeding, Caravan, Student, Vulnerable, custody, Workplace

I used to love this until I attended a recording via zoom in lockdown.

Seeing him, and how it worked, has kind of spoilt it for me!

(Sorry!)

Suboptimalsitch · 24/11/2022 05:12

jangleybeads. Oh no. I’ve booked to see him live in January ☹️.

I must be losing the plot because I’ve listened to all the ones you’ve listed TeenDivided but was sure there’d only been 3 episodes! It felt as if there had only been 3 .

I'm a fan. The 6.30pm slot is such a disappointment these days and It's a Fair Cop stands out very much from other offerings.

I had that with Count Arthur Strong JanglyBeads. It took me my time to get into the groove, and then really enjoyed it, but then went to see the theatrical show and it was never the same again.

JanglyBeads · 24/11/2022 19:45

Oh no! I did think Shall I post this it might spoil it for others - but thought it was interesting.....

Let's hope he's better live.

Tbh one of the things that killed it for me, and it might be different if la ive show, is that he wasn't in uniform! Silly really, but I suppose I'd envisaged him like Dixon of Dock Green (for those who remember!). He was in quite a nice arty-looking white linen- type shirt, which was All Wrong....

JanglyBeads · 24/11/2022 19:45

@nauticant oh that's a shame, love the radio show!

Suboptimalsitch · 24/11/2022 19:46

This isn’t a recording and I didn’t think to expect him to be wearing a uniform. Hope it’s not disappointing.

Love this progranme. There aren't that many that my teenage kids enjoy as much as me and my very elderly Dad This series has not disappointed..

(ISIHAC and Cabin Pressure are the others we all love)

I love the programme. Shows how hard the job is. Genuinely laugh out loud sometimes, even though some of the messages are quite hard-hitting. He was on Radio 4's Feedback on 25/11. Lots of praise from listeners and then he had to apologise for a comment following a listener's complaint, for which I couldn't quite understand why.

I've attended a Zoom in lockdown and a live at the Edinburgh Festival and both were great! I'm sure you'll enjoy it

RewildingAmbridge · 28/11/2022 00:35

I love it, I work with police daily despite not being an officer myself. DH works in a related field and we really enjoying playing along. I would never have expected him to be in uniform! Most of the police I work with don't wear them even at work. Where can you book tickets, I'd love to see a recording

He implied that schizophrenics were serial killing psychopaths like Dennis Nilsen, thus reinforcing the stigma of having schizophrenia.

frustratedacademic · 28/11/2022 07:57

Oh dear! Not good at all.

nauticant · 28/11/2022 09:27

That's a remarkably unfair interpretation of a "joke" he made comparing mild crimes with horrible crimes in which in characterising Dennis Nilsen he included the term "schizophrenic".

DapperDame · 30/11/2022 22:55

@rewildingAmbridge To book tickets you need to sign up to the BBC radio recordings newsletter via the BBC website. Recordings are free to attend but you'll probably have to go to London.
