Loving this series.

Can anyone recommend any other fantastic dramas on Radio 4?

Oh I've not heard this one, will look it up!

Sorry I know that's no help Wink

BaconAndAvocado · 12/11/2022 15:47

PritiPatelsMaker it’s brilliant!!

Oh I hope someone comes along with a suggestion... I loved Tracks!

Anoooshka · 20/11/2022 19:51

I quite liked Blackout. Not as good as Tracks, but I haven't yet found anything that is.

BaconAndAvocado · 21/11/2022 19:50

Thanks Anoooshka I’ll look into that.

It's not really like Tracks but I loved Tracks and I was also a big fan of Tumanbay. I think that you would also enjoy Passenger List which is a thriller about a missing plane - it doesn't seem to be on Sounds at the moment though

Lycanthropology · 24/11/2022 01:06

I found Passenger List on Google podcasts, so I'll be giving that a listen.
Has anyone listened to any of the Limelight podcasts on BBC Sounds? There are so many I don't know where to begin.
There is something there called The Piper that looks interesting, too.

BaconAndAvocado · 24/11/2022 15:28

OOhh what are the Limelight podcasts about?

I’ve nearly finished the last series of Tracks.....

One thing I do is look at who's produced a series's like then try another which has produced by them. Turns out I really like the series produced by Toby Swift Wink

BaconAndAvocado · 21/11/2022 19:50

Thanks Anoooshka I’ll look into that.

I forgot about Tumanbay and Passenger List. I enjoyed both of these too.

terryleather · 27/11/2022 09:40

Absolutely love Tracks.

I also really enjoyed The Lovecraft Investigations - there's three series of that on Sounds. They're written by Julian Simpson and I found some more of his work on SoundCloud as they're not currently available on Sounds.

dimples76 · 27/11/2022 12:18

This Thing of Darkness is another good one

nauticant · 27/11/2022 22:45

I like Pilgrim. I also like Mythos. Mythos is part of the Pleasant Green Universe that has generated lots of off-the-wall drama:

If there's something from BBC radio that appeals and it's not currently available, have a look here:

nauticant · 27/11/2022 22:49

It's surprising where you can find radio programmes, eg Mythos:

The lead is Nicola Walker. I love her radio performances.

terryleather · 28/11/2022 11:19

Oh thanks for the links nauticant, they didn't have the other two episodes of Mythos on SoundCloud and I really wanted to listen to them.

Really enjoyed Bad Memories and Fugue State too.

nauticant · 28/11/2022 14:35

I love the Mythos radio dramas, splendidly bonkers. With the bonus of Nicola Walker.

That goes to the Pleasant Green Universe in general. More information here: tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Radio/PleasantGreenUniverse

DesMoulinsRouge · 28/11/2022 14:42

Ooh I love Pleasant Green! What's the one about the super spy? Who is such a body? I can't remember but I loved it!
There's another really good one on sounds about Christopher Marlowe, it's a drama/documentary about his death.
Oh and one I really enjoyed called talking to the dead about a family with psychic abilities passed on through the generations.

nauticant · 28/11/2022 16:05

The last you mention is the utterly fabulous Listening to the Dead:

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03nv05z/episodes/player

All 5 play are actually currently available on Sounds* and I'd strongly recommend them. One clue to their quality is that the writer is Katie Hims. She is a class act.

* Or alternatively you can find them, and even download them, in/from the magic audio archive:

MrsMorton · 28/11/2022 16:33

The lovecraft series is fab.

Dreikanter · 28/11/2022 16:55

I enjoyed Harland and The System, and Deadhand was also quite good (all part of the Limelight series). Who Is Aldrich Kemp was very entertaining and The House That Vanished was interesting.

Lusus was weird.

Fault Lines, Money, Sex and Blood is worth a listen (Glenda Jackson).

Lovecraft Investigations are very good too.

How to Kill Your Family is a good listen, as is My Sister the Serial Killer.

All on BBC Sounds.

Ratched · 28/11/2022 17:48

What was the one called that was set in Northumberland. About a virus spread from pork sausages served at a festival?
That was good. Whatever it was called😁

I listen to loads and loads of good drama on iplayer, but can never remember the name😳 latest love affair has been Eleanor Rising. Can't wait for series 3!

Ratched · 28/11/2022 17:51

And Exemplar. A it different.

Ratched · 28/11/2022 17:51

Ratched · 28/11/2022 17:54

Found it- Resistance. Written by Val McDermid.

Really enjoyed this

comfortablyfrumpy · 28/11/2022 18:01

I loved Tracks

Will check out some of these suggestions :)
