Radio 4 Feedback - new series, new presenter, thoughts?

Andrea Catherwood is the new presenter. I thought she was OK. Still baffled by why they needed to replace Roger Bolton, though. The format seems to have been tweaked slightly rather than re-invented. Relieved by that.

He left R4 around the same time as Ernie Ray from Beyond Belief. Is it a new broom sweeping through?

Oh, I didn't know he'd left too. I wouldn't be surprised. Radio 4 does this every so often. I've been listening most of my life and every few years there have been big upsets. I wish they wouldn't do it.

Roger Bolton has started his own podcast called beeb watch . I've been enjoying it so far

Life Changing has a new interviewer. Dr Siân Williams, whose doctorate is in counselling psychology.

I thought the new presenter good enough. If I'd never heard the programme before I'd think it was fine, but can't help missing Roger Bolton.

What I did find quite annoying was the two women laughing at the presenter of the Kate Bush archive programme (which I thought fantastic) for daring to explain the context behind some songs. ("Why not just say it's a good tune?") I never thought I'd hear myself use the dread words "dumbing down"...

@WhoppingBigBackside I accidentally caught the episode last week with the boxing lad. Never heard the programme before, found it quite interesting. Is that the same Sian Williams who used to present the TV news?

@SirCharlesRainier , I think so. Yesterday's Life Changing was good. Quite shocking but not in a sensationalistic way.

I can't listen to the music programmes on R4, other than Desert Island Discs and Add to Playlist. I thoroughly enjoy ATP, but can take or leave DID.
