Radio 4 are serialising When the Dust Settles by Lucy Easthope. She is a specialist in dealing with the aftermath of disasters and disaster recovery. Two episodes in so far, 9.45am. It is a terrific and fascinating listen.

It's very interesting.

I read an interview with her. It was intriguing.

WhoppingBigBackside · 30/03/2022 13:12

She was on Wimmin Sour today. She said that billeting evacuees/survivors in spare bedrooms is harmful (about 17 mins in)

It was very interesting indeed BUT why, in the name of the gods of pedantry, was the reader allowed to keep pronouncing 'nuclear' as 'nucular'? Did the producer honestly not hear the mistake, or worse still, not realise it IS a mistake??

WhoppingBigBackside · 03/04/2022 13:04

I found it annoying. Why on earth would someone say Newkiller for Nuclear?

Dissect said as Die-sect annoys me too, although that is now the most common way people say it. We don't say dissolve as die-solve or dissipate as die-sipate or dissertation as die-sertation

WhoppingBigBackside · 03/04/2022 13:29

Not sure if I expressed my die-satisfaction adequately in my pp.
