Has anyone else heard this? It's been on in the Book at Bedtime slot on Radio 4:

It's billed as a 'comedy about love in later life' with Bill Nighy and Anna Calder Marshall. I don't find John (the Bill Nighy character) romantic, just borderline coercive control. Similarly Maggie (Anna CM) isn't charmingly devoted and supportive, just constantly trying to fit in with what John wants.

I realise I'm not selling it and it's on series 5 so there must have been some positive feedback but I just find it uncomfortable. The series with Roger Alam and Joanna Lumley works much better.

I actually think the dialogue is funny but it's not encouraging me to listen to every episode. I usually like Bill Nighy and his dry tones.

Yes, I normally like things with Bill Nighy in. I think it's a bit better now I have heard a few more episodes but I expected more from it.

I got v confused and thought it was the Joanna lumley series for a while! Which was lovely but am not sure about this one.

Yes, I like the Joanna Lumley one. It's very good - well written and superbly acted.

I didn't like it either. There was something uncomfortable about it

Thanks WhoppingBigBackside. It's nice to know I'm not alone!
