I went for the obvious thread title this time. Poor Ruairi! Whither now for Alice? Will Jennifer talk to Peggy soon? Good hint from Lilian the other day that at Peggy's age it's not wise to leave feuds bubbling on.

It's been a long time since we last heard from a certain Archer whose name I am not going to mention in case it acts as a summoning charm. Long may she remain unheard in the dairy or out in the fields, or better still somewhere near a sinkhole. That was a storyline that looked promising years ago and wasn't exploited as it could have been. Pah.

I thought it was definitely meant to have been left by Alice as a sort of goodbye/admission that she realises how people must see her.... which stretched credibility somewhat as a) I’ve never thought of her as creative enough to do what was obviously a rather good likeness in straw and b) that sounded like something that would require time, planning and commitment, none of which she would have possessed at the point she decided to leave.

It’s just too over dramatic of her and of the Editors, particularly if it’s final goodbye before a suicide attempt.

Jackie Weaver appearing in the first Sunday night episode for 18 months is a lovely touch, but I wish we didn’t know the surprise already!

Also, have Ambridge fêtes always been in a Sunday.... or only since the Sunday night episodes were first introduced? Because traditional village fêtes were always on a Saturday, especially where churches were involved.

Well we know for certain that JW is going to be in the Archers because it was reported from the horse’s mouth in the Telegraph. Agree with Edmontine that that was really something that should have gone on the spoilers thread only.

@HaveringWavering, I didn't register that post (no disrespect intended to LizziesTwin), possibly because I couldn't give a shiny shite who is being dragged in to try and make the fete an unmissable event. 'afaik' should have been a bit of a giveaway.
And, while I find the pathological avoidance of spoilers incomprehensible, it is generally respected on these threads, so I assumed it was still all speculation.

You said “WE don’t”, contradicting the previous poster who said that “we” did. My point was that YOU might not know but many others would have clicked on the article so you were not right to say “we” didn’t know.

FWIW, I didn't click on that link and had no idea it was a spoiler, or I would have asked for it to be moved to the other thread. I assumed it was an interview with JW saying how much she would like to be in TA, or similar. Ah well.

Back to five episodes from tomorrow! Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

I found the scenes R and Jenny very touching. It is such a shame to lose him.

Someone on the previous thread (sorry, can't remember who it was and I am not looking for it at this time of night) asked whether anyone here had been an Umrat; I was for a while, but left and became an Unrat because I got fed up with some of the people who posted there and their preoccupation with sexual innuendo and with being nasty to anyone in Umra they happened not to approve of.

Sometimes they invented things to be angry about, even if it meant actual misquotation and deliberate misunderstanding of what seemed pretty clear to me when I read it. Very tedious.

I had entirely forgotten / not really understood that there was a separate spoilers thread, being a fairly recent recruit here....

I was that umrat. I didn't see anything like that during my time, in fact I went to one of their annual garden parties in Reading, where funds were raised for a good cause (large size print books to somewhere overseas -may have been China).

Mind you, it was impossible to read everything, as the posts were fully threaded, so would split into several sub-threads.

No worries, JanglyBeads - I guess you assumed everyone had read the interview article. (Whereas the determined spoilerphobes amongst us would have avoided clicking for fear of what we might find.)

On the rare occasions when I have anything remotely spoiler-y to share I find myself checking several times but am always still afraid I might have posted on the wrong thread.

De-lurking because no one IRL would appreciate my surprise when reading the start of the description for the 12/8 ep- “Harrison is keen to enjoy a rare joint…” (see screenshot), that’s a departure from character, I thought!
