Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you look forward to Shula's first sermon, or other unusual things. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

I went for the obvious thread title this time. Poor Ruairi! We've had a good go on the last thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/a4289334--Archers-thread-129-Casey-Macy-Lily-Alice-Decent-types-or-full-of-malice-Discuss-The-Archers-here?msgid=109858475#109858475 at trying to work out where he's going and what he might be studying, as the SWs have not seen fit to tell us. Hmm

Whither now for Alice? Will Jennifer talk to Peggy soon? Good hint from Lilian the other day that at Peggy's age it's not wise to leave feuds bubbling on. Sad

It's been a long time since we last heard from a certain Archer whose name I am not going to mention in case it acts as a summoning charm. Long may she remain unheard in the dairy or out in the fields, or better still somewhere near a sinkhole. That was a storyline that looked promising years ago and wasn't exploited as it could have been. Pah.

Over to you!

@KristiffurCarter, childcare is not synonymous with siblings and parents, and not when they have full time jobs.

theThreeofWeevils · 08/09/2021 19:49

@WheresThatCatGoneNow, the Lamingtons were vegan. I know that's not a flavour.

FoxgloveSummers · 08/09/2021 20:36

Should I assume bad things from the fact that no-one’s mentioned tonight’s yet?

theThreeofWeevils · 08/09/2021 21:05

Beth, the slaughterhouse man's daughter
Pitched Ben Archer in the water.
An email comes; Chris asks 'What is it?'
Rehab requires him to visit.

Taswama · 08/09/2021 21:06

I may have shed a tear when Neil was telling Susan she was his soulmate. I thought his visit to Shula to tell her he wouldn't be coming around so frequently was well done too do Boop for those scenes.

Amy explaining midwifery to Chris and her experience of Covid on the wards felt shoe-horned in to me. I don't remember them ever being particularly close.

She lived in The Nest with him and Alice for a couple of weeks once, and he was not particularly happy about it.

TheSilveryPussycat · 08/09/2021 22:45

Surely Martha isn't old enough for swings?

I enjoyed Joy taking joy in everything Eddie showed him. But couldn't work out why he was so reluctant to drive her in the first place. Did I miss something?

TheSilveryPussycat · 08/09/2021 22:54

Oh, Chris sits on the swing with Martha on his lap, I suppose.

theThreeofWeevils · 08/09/2021 23:04

I wondered about that, but apparently there are ones suitable for smallish infants. Not sure I'd be happy using them a not-quite-six-month-old (and prem at that) but no doubt the issue has been meticulously researched.
They are rather pushing the 'healthy, happy, alert baby' angle, aren't they? One can only hope that disaster lurks just around the corner.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 08/09/2021 23:32

Why is tonight’s episode not available on Sounds?

My world is crumbling.

Jemand · 08/09/2021 23:34

I did wonder whether Amy's function is to be the person with some sort of medical knowledge who raises the alarm about FAS signs.

Jemand · 08/09/2021 23:35

I assumed Eddie was reluctant to drive Joy round because he wasn't being paid for it and he wanted to get away with as little work as he possibly could.

Rafting2022 · 09/09/2021 07:00

I don’t think it was particularly admirable of Neil telling Shula he wouldn’t be coming round any more when he ended by saying You know where I am if you need me…

Mine is derailed also.

I was wondering if Amy and Chris are going to get together. They seem to be enjoying each other's company and I don't imagine it's going to go all that well when Alice comes home.
suzyscat · 09/09/2021 08:13

Only me hoping the flower and produce show gets cancelled for lack of interest?

She seems suitably one-dimensional for Chris but given she meant to be Alice’s best friend it would be very wrong for her to become involved with him. Some friend she would turn out to be - talk about a kick in the teeth to Alice.

and mine, it is my link to home.
theThreeofWeevils · 09/09/2021 10:26

Amy would be doing Alice a favour were she to annex the painfully dull Christyffur. Dull and self-righteous herself, she can dedicate herself to performance step-mothering of Such-A-Little-Treasure Marff. JD & Susan will be united as never before in hatred of the lumpen, spotty Cerberus now guarding SALT Marff. And Alice can head for fresh fields and boozers new, unencumbered by doltish husband and unwanted brat.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 09/09/2021 10:59

Yesterday's episode -- Sounds and iPlayer both seem to be up now. Or at least, if Sounds is what is at "Available now" on the website, that is there, and iPlayer turned up automatically on my machine about half an hour ago.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 09/09/2021 11:03

Thanks. Wonder what the issue was.

FoxgloveSummers · 09/09/2021 11:17

It'll just be a tech problem with the scheduling that probably came up after everyone had left work for the day and was only spotted this morning. (I have some boring knowledge of these kinds of issues)

shallIswim · 09/09/2021 12:42

Sorry if it's already been asked but Amy's voice is bugging me. Is it a new actor playing her? She sounds different

Alice might leave him. What then?
