If you're in your 50s which Radio Stations do you listen to?

Inspired by another thread in here, which stations do you listen to?

I tend to listen to a mixture of R4/R2/6music and a bit of Absolute 90s but always open to trying a new station I listen to a lot of radio

6 Music and R4

R4 is the main station in our house. I’m currently listening to ‘the unbelievable truth’. I like the news/ current affairs, science, economics & some of the comedy. I’m less keen on the drama & arts coverage. I also listen to 5 Live / Sports Extra for football & TMS, obv.

I don’t listen to much music radio these days, but I enjoy Craig Charles funk & soul show on 6 music. I absolutely cannot bear those ghastly commercial stations which play the same 20 tired, boring songs on rotation all day every day, eg Heart, Magic.

6music, late night radio 3, BBC world service. Occasionally other things from 3/4 on the Sounds app.

Smooth Country and R2.

If you are open to internet radio, NTS has some interesting things, but you can't get it on your car/kitchen radio.

I listen to Kiss, Kisstory, Heart Dance & Hits radio Pride. Not a lover of some of the rap songs around so will flip between stations. Dh (who is only 3 years older than me at 55) will often ask me what this 'drivel' is when he's in my car

mix of:
Wave 105 - local pop station with most accurate weather also provides local news and has nice DJs
Planet Rock - a bit too heavy metal for me but some old faves
R2 & R1 - to avoid commercials on others

I've only just found Greatest Hits Radio - everyone a winner!

Boom Radio is good. For those born between 1946 and 1964. Some of the adverts are cheesy but the music selection is great

I listen to Kiss and Capital in the car. Hate all bbc radio. (Neighbours have radio 2 on when I’m in the garden.)

Those born between those dates are called Baby Boomers

6 music, absolute 80’s and sometimes local radio

5 live if there's sport on, otherwise Times Radio. If in music mood Apple's dance pop playlist

Radio 2.

Same as you, r4, r2 , 6music but also r5 , although the non-sport r5.

Used to listen to loads of Radio 4 but have gone off it and have discovered France Inter on my Wifi radio, which I like a lot. Have just come across Radio 4 Extra, which is promising.

The few times I have the radio on in the car (if I’m not listening to either one of my own playlists of 80s, 90s or a total mix of eras or a podcast of my favourite American political centrists dunking on Trump and MAGA world) I listen to Absolute.

I grew up in the New York radio area in the 70s and 80s and it was all Top 40 all the time and i never really liked it that much. It wasn’t till I got to university in 1985 where I discovered the wonderful sounds of “college rock” (REM is the apex of this genre) and Absolute is the closest I can get to that in radio. Don’t need to limit myself to 80s or 90s - there’s lots of stuff Absolute plays that is from a later or earlier era that’s in the spirit of college rock.

My DH is the same age but he has no musical taste whatsoever and just always has Classic FM on the radio when he drives.

Lbc and 6 music depending on who's presenting at the time.
