The Archers-going forward

Has anything been announced about the future of the archers- as in will it ever go back to the old Sunday-Thursday schedule?

I think/ have gathered from the main Archers thread that they’ve recently said the four episodes a week will continue for the moment 😭

It is, isn't it. It was explicitly mentioned on Feedback last week. Apparently there are still a lot of extra things to do to be able to record at all and it limits how much they can record in the time available to them. Ho hum.

Oh yes, hadn't spotted that. Yes, it was Sunday to Friday. Years ago it was just Monday to Friday but the episodes were 15 mins instead of 12.5 minutes, so still 75 minutes a week. (Spot the Archers nerd )

I thought the epis were still the same length but each one would have a bit of non-essential dialogue to cut out for the omnibus?
(I seem to remember always taking great delight in identifying the superfluous bit )

I’m just worried about what they are all doing on Friday-Sunday and how they know to keep drama to a minimum those days !
I’m still surprised when I look for the Friday dramas episode and it’s not there. I miss Sunday evening episode a lot.

giant that’s right. One reason I didn’t like to listen to the omnibus. How would an editor know for example that ‘the choice of chicken feed’ bit (or similar) wasn’t actually vital listening for some of us !

It wasn't quite like that. The Sunday morning omnibus had bits cut out because it wasn't 75 minutes long. Nowadays it is (in normal times).
