I discovered this podcast the other day and have been binge listening.
It's really good.
Basically the 2 hosts take an event from the past and discuss the facts and discover how it's been remembered differently.
They've done episodes about Monica Kewinsku, The Challenger disaster, Enron, urban legends.
I am really enjoying it and would highly recommend it.

Yes I enjoyed the episodes on Courtney Love and Anna Nicole Smith, it's a good podcast and informative.

BunnyRuddington · 17/03/2021 21:25

Is it anything like Evil Genius by Russel Kane? They take figures from history and decide how they should really be remembered.

Thirtyrock39 · 20/03/2021 22:35

God I love this podcast . It was recommended on the high low a while ago with the Diana episodes and I listened to those then all the oj Simpson ones and then basically all the other ones ! It really makes you think about things in a new way - eg victim impact statements, crime and the justice system
The hosts are so good - so funny and wise

knittingaddict · 27/03/2021 07:49

It's probably my favourite podcast. Entertaining and informative. Love it.

ClarrieGrundy · 31/03/2021 21:44

I'm a massive fan, although I don't agree with them on all of their views.

There is a real chemistry between the hosts.

I enjoy Sarah's Why Are Dads, but really rate Michael and Aubrey on
maintenancephase.com

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 04/04/2021 19:39

Ooh thanks for that. Had a bit of a binge this afternoon.

ClarrieGrundy · 13/04/2021 22:19

Hello there - did you listen to maintenance phase? Just wondering if you liked it?!

Greystray · 25/08/2021 23:34

Honestly I find them a tiny bit sloppy and self-congratulatory sometimes. I enjoy the podcast, but sometimes I wish there was a way to say "Actually, you might be wrong about..."

Like their episode on Koko the gorilla. I don't remember everything now, I listened to it ages ago, but they had this whole "Aha!" moment that Koko couldn't possibly know how to rhyme because sign language doesn't use rhyming structures, totally ignoring that Koko wasn't using sign language because she was deaf or hearing impaired but because that she was a gorilla Grin and her keeper loudly verbalized everything she signed.

StrawberrySquash · 13/02/2022 21:41

Yeah, sometimes they give you new perspectives, but other times they are clearly coming from a set viewpoint and not really giving thought to more than one side. I did enjoy the Diana episodes, it's so funny to see it through foreign eyes.

WhisperGold · 18/02/2022 23:06

Is Sarah still writing her book about the Satanic Panic?

StrawberrySquash · 20/02/2022 12:17

Last episode I listened to I think she was!

Loopytiles · 09/03/2022 18:55

Used to be brilliant but went very off the rails!

custardlover · 22/03/2022 18:06

I am a massive fan - loved the Stepford Wives ep and all the ones on OJ Simpson

I agree. I loved listening to this, but it's not really worth listening to now. I think the male co host has left and it's been even worse since then.
gabsdot45 · 03/04/2022 15:07

Sarah had guest on the last one who has a podcast called American Hysteria. I've listened to a few episodes and it's very good too.
Similar to you're wrong about but more scripted.

This is one of mt favorite podcasts, very entertaining and informative.

HoyaSaxa · 14/06/2022 07:33

I’m quite disappointed about this podcast as it has gone massively downhill. I loved the OJ Simpson episodes and the Jessica Simpson stuff.

but - I hate to do this - once you notice that Sarah Marshall laughs at her own jokes if becomes rather grating.

The other problem I have is that they have been pretty wrong about stuff that they say other people are wrong about. The Matthew Shepherd episode being a particularly egregious example.

I rated Michael Hobbes until he outed himself as, in my view, the worst kind of woke middle class misogynist.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 23/06/2022 16:09

Yes I really enjoyed some of the earlier episodes and the insights to a lot of things in US culture that I didn't have much of a "take" on, but they have actually been wrong themselves on a few things. Plus after a while the woke self congratulatory back patting made me want to tear my ears off. Recently I've thought that if I was stuck in a lift with Sarah Marshall and her laugh I would probably just fling myself down the lift shaft.
Ah well.

Yes he really is a woke bro isn't he. He's the reason I stopped listening. Might try it again if he's gone now.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 18/12/2022 19:58

@Nameynnname have you listened recently? The vibe is different without Michael Hobbs but Im enjoying it.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 18/12/2022 20:10

I very much enjoyed the beanie babies episode. However Sarah Marshall continues to irritate!
