Absolutely love this podcast. So fascinating and horrible too. I'm not quite at the end so no spoilers please.

This question isnt a spoiler if you want to listen to it.

When they found the bodies, how did they identify them and who buried them? I dont get how they were buried without families knowledge because they must have known who they were to write the names on the graves?

I listened to this last year. It was really well done. Also gave you an insight into the time very strongly.

Re your question, I seem to remember it was done by the locals and a catholic priest identified the bodies or represented the families for the burial. Sorry to be vague.

I only started listening this morning (I'm at home self-isolating) and only at epi4.
In general terms, when someone is classed a Missing Person abroad, identification is via dental records, bones, profiling, etc. and shared via Interpol.Burial rather than cremation cos of possible exhumation in the case of 'Unexplained Death' as it's called in the US.
And that's all I know!
Shan't be going to bed tonight til I've listened to it all.
