All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd like Alf to stay around, or other unusual views.

Thanks to @DoctorTwo for the thread title! I was strongly tempted by R4's suggestion of Wildlife on Four: Jonneh is wild at Lily, Phoebe rewilds by Occam, Joy is in the wilderness and David is bewildered by a marriage proposal.

So we did make it past Joe's funeral at last. Are we heading for a Christmas octogenarian wedding now?

It’s a plot. They want everyone to turn off so the programme can be decommissioned. It’s the only possible explanation.

I agree - very odd. There are big things going on we need to know about ! Feels as though ambridge has been lost in the mist and we’ve taken a wrong turn up unpaved track into the panto lands.

Weirdly, I quite liked overstretched and out of his depth Eddie!

Although, Ambridge seems perhaps overly populated with men with not much to occupy them. And I was surprised their were no aspiring Mother Christmases. Perhaps Fallon will take over from her reluctant husband.

So how will Borsetshire's only policeman find time to be Father Christmas?

Leonard seems to have the measure of CMR. I hope there is a big strop over Christmas if all the Archers clan get together.

The scene with Jim and Russ (and the follow up with Lizzie) was disturbing on so many levels I actually was appalled listening to it. Everything that’s already been mentioned, but for me the worst was the nasty manipulation of Jim into acquiescing to the prize twit CMR following his emotional blackmail over Lizzie’s depression. Just horrible to hear.

As for a third rate teacher being of the equivalent calibre to a university professor... do you think the scriptwriters believe this to be true? I guess not, but nowadays, who knows?

CMR was a deputy head, which of course does not mean he was a good teacher, the ranks of SLT have always attracted those keen to escape the classroom, but it doesn't mean he was any good either.

What I always found unlikely was an art teacher being in SLT at all, not because they lack ability, but that in 40+ years of teaching in 8 different school/colleges I've never encountered or even heard of an art teacher at this level. I assume it happens though.

I presume that it is the SWs' heavy-handed way of pointing out that nobody organises a production like La Snell. You don't know what you've got til it's gone. Et Cetera.
