Archers Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads and @DadDadDad for being our resident statistician and keeping the ball rolling when Pseudo stepped back a bit.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd like to be Susan's best friend or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3439443-keep-it-to-yourself-the-archers-spoilers-thread-4, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Archers Thanks to LillianGish and BuckingFrolics for ideas for this thread title. I went with the less Rabelaisian of LG's ideas! Grin

On 14th June it will be the 100th birthday of June Spencer, who has played Peggy Woolley since 1951. I hope the BBC has a lot of special tributes lined up to celebrate this remarkable achievement.

I assumed that Lynda was simply massaging Jim's ego to get some background history for the "tribute speech" at the Jimposium.

Well yes. But her subterfuge had an unexpected result.

LillianGish · 04/06/2019 17:44

The bucket list feels odd to me because the kind of the things that become more complicated when you become a parent are invariably the very ordinary things you take for granted until you have a baby - an impromptu trip to the cinema, reading a book, soaking in the bath, going out to dinner somewhere that doesn't have a children's menu, a city break where you only have to pay for two flights and don't need tp consider children's activities when you arrive there...Swimming in the Am is just silly as a pp pointed out. But clearly the bucket list is going to be yet more fodder for hilarious carry-on capers.....yawns.

LillianGish · 04/06/2019 17:46

And Kate being the one sticking her nose in with such enthusiasm? How, exactly, has producing children prevented her from doing absolutely everything she wanted to do? And this - absolutely.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 04/06/2019 19:14

Of course Josh's GIRLFRIEND can do the teas. Flippen 'ell. Angry

FreezerBird · 04/06/2019 19:17

Also, I thought Jill was ideologically opposed to gastropubs?

(This autocorrected to gastropods. I don't know Jill's views there, but given she's a gardener, probably not keen on them either.)

R4 · 04/06/2019 20:35

I don't believe for a minute that Jill would, on a Tuesday, wriggle out of a commitment to help out on Sunday and leave D&R in the brown and sticky.
All that talk of Liberty recreating Jill's signature dishes to a T sounds ominous. Do we think that Jill will permanently prefer Leonard to Brookfield? I hope that that leaves Brookfield reliant on Liberty's cooking, which Josh will milk for all it's worth. (Then I hope that Liberty dumps him - the poor girl must have a better future than being replacement maid-of-all-work.)

BertrandRussell · 04/06/2019 21:16

Of course Josh's GIRLFRIEND can do the teas. Flippen 'ell“

To be fair, she is nearly a catering professional. And probably can’t drive a tractor.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 04/06/2019 21:18

It's like asking Alice, the engineer, to clean fish poo out of Adam's filtering system... oh wait

Taswama · 05/06/2019 08:54

I don’t think Alice has to do the actual cleaning, I think she merely identified the problem.

BertrandRussell · 05/06/2019 09:01

Oh god there’s going to be some hilarious penis joke when they go skinny dipping, isn’t there? The current SW is obsessed with willies.

Taswama · 05/06/2019 09:03

Yes - did anyone else notice Alice saying to Adam - no reason to stay in bed due to Chris’s injuries! TMI !

BertrandRussell · 05/06/2019 09:07

She identified the fish poo problem then said that when Adam had cleaned it out she’d show him a fix so it wouldn’t happen again.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 05/06/2019 19:08

Do I see where this is going?

GeorgeTheBleeder · 05/06/2019 19:09

Yup.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 05/06/2019 19:11

Oh!

Oh .........................

MikeUniformMike · 05/06/2019 19:19

Oh dear.

5000FlapjacksofJillArcher · 05/06/2019 19:20

.......What are the chances........??

R4 · 05/06/2019 19:25

Tonight for your delectation we have willies, Will and a bellend.

BertrandRussell · 05/06/2019 19:52

I stopped the programme and said to ds “Two characters in the Archers have gone for an evening picnic. They have just told each other how wonderful it was and are going for a last sw.....” and he cut me off with “One of them’s dead”
So poo to you, DS-The Archers can still surprise us.

thislido · 05/06/2019 20:25

Go on then, what happened? Not been posting because I’m a week or two behind, but I have been enjoying the thread.

LassOfFyvie · 05/06/2019 20:34

Why does having a baby mean skinny dipping is off limits?

DadDadDad · 05/06/2019 21:13

thislido - do you really want to know? Will and Ed collided on a country road, and discovered each other's secrets, so now they can have a Lily / Freddie type stand-off. If that wasn't enough of an unlikely coincidence, they were near two naked men swimming in the Am, but not near enough that either pair witnessed the other. You may be able to guess who the swimmers were.

beachyhead · 05/06/2019 21:26

And chemicals were spilt...... again 😀

thislido · 05/06/2019 21:26

Oh, clever me, I predicted that Will and Ed would collide, revealing their secrets, on the spoilers thread.

Thanks DDD! I did really want to know.

DadDadDad · 05/06/2019 21:38

Although to be fair, thislido, looking at the spoilers thread, @Motoko made a big contribution to that prediction.
