Only realised when they mentioned it tonight. I’ve really enjoyed him hosting.

Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!

DontFearTheReaper · 31/05/2019 22:28

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

Oh that's a shame.

I was really pleased when he took over, those were big shoes to fill (although I'd imagine Sandi's feet are actually quite small!) and he's done a great job.

I wonder who will take over?

KingscoteStaff · 01/06/2019 12:25

Is it me or are tenures getting shorter and shorter?

GiantKitten · 01/06/2019 12:48

He’s been on 4 years I think (was on twitter recently) which is longer than I thought.

Many votes there for Susan Calman. Please, no!

tribpot · 01/06/2019 12:53

I would like Susan Calman but she may find the recording being in London too difficult to manage (as she doesn't fly). That said, the recording doesn't have to be in London, amazingly we do have recording studios in the rest of the UK!

eurochick · 01/06/2019 13:12

Noooo. I think he's a great host. I think Susan Calman would be a good replacement.

DontFearTheReaper · 01/06/2019 18:35

I love Susan Calman but I don’t think she did a great job in that series with the guest hosts.

OP posts:
KingscoteStaff · 01/06/2019 18:45

Ben Miller?

KingscoteStaff · 01/06/2019 18:46

Or V Coren M?

GiantKitten · 01/06/2019 19:38

I’m not sure any of those are quick/funny enough. I know Miles has a script but he also ad libs very well.

Aggregate · 01/06/2019 21:27

Miles’ ad libs are usually funnier and cleverer than his scripted lines. I think he was a great host and it’s a massive shame that he’s leaving.

AwkwardSquad · 01/06/2019 21:29

Bugger.

GiantKitten · 01/06/2019 21:30

Yes it is. I was really sad when I heard.

nauticant · 01/06/2019 21:44

Miles Jupp has been great but I'd prefer him to leave while doing good stuff rather than staying in place too long.

Please let his replacement not be Susan Calman. She's fine doing her own stuff by she's just a bit too "I'm mad me!" to be a host for TNQ.

echt · 02/06/2019 00:10

Another Sad for Miles Jupp leaving TNQ, he's been an excellent host. Like others, I'm not at all sure Susan Calman would be up to it; there's a real need for the host to hold back on self, not to use the position to make it all about them.

devoncreamtea · 09/06/2019 16:21

It will be David Mitchell I reckon. I’d like Rhod Gilbert he is brilliant.

DontFearTheReaper · 09/06/2019 16:48

I love david Mitchell but really wouldn’t want it to be him.

TemporaryPermanent · 09/06/2019 16:53

Miles Jupp has been amazing. I think he's genuinely subversive. A few of his ad libs have genuinely challenged me, made TNQ a bit less cosy.

I don't think Susan Calman either, she really needs room to expand, she's a raconteur rather than one to impose structure.

I wonder about Bridget Christie but I've never actually seen her live. I just think she might work.

DontFearTheReaper · 09/06/2019 18:04

He’s brought on so many new people too.

Yes I think Bridget Christie could work.

OP posts:
AppleKatie · 09/06/2019 18:11

I’m sad about this. Susan Calman would be ok but I agree she’s probably a better guest than host.

Has a date been announced?

WobblyLondoner · 09/06/2019 21:16

Bugger. Really liked him. Amazed he's been doing it for four years - would have guessed two!

BitOfFun · 09/06/2019 21:30

Bridget Christie would be brilliant!

MabelStark · 01/09/2019 15:50

I'd love Richard Osman to do it. Think he'd be a perfect fit.
