Archers Thanks due to @PseudoBadger for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads and to @DadDadDad for being our resident statistician and keeping the ball rolling when Pseudo stepped back a bit. Thanks also to all those who contributed to the thread title, principally Dumdedumdedum and MikeUniformMike on this occasion.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd like to be Susan's best friend or other odd unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from this thread, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

So, to business: will Helen's new cheese be a success? Will Kate succeed in keeping her visiting Brummies under control? Will Pip, Toby, Tom and Natasha fall into the slurry pit, leaving Rosie to be brought up by Anthony Head Robin Fairbrother? Will we ever hear Lee again, and will he casually drop in a mention of his fine collection of framed Bruce Lee posters? Grin

To give Ed some credit, he did originally try not to get involved. It was Emma who pushed him back into it.

T1nah · 01/05/2019 12:43

Blame the woman!

grumiosmum · 01/05/2019 12:49

I thought it was going to be a gun! Was quite relieved when it was only a baseball bat.

Motoko · 01/05/2019 12:59

Yeah, I imagined a sawn off shotgun!

ppeatfruit · 01/05/2019 13:03

To be fair Oliver did recommend Tim to Ed. Maybe he's not aware of Tim's two facedness Would Ed be right to talk to Oliver about it all before it escalates do we think?

thislido · 01/05/2019 13:06

Emma happens to be a woman, yes, but my comment would equally apply the other way.

I don’t mean Ed couldn’t have stuck to his guns, but Emma put the pressure on and minimised the criminal aspects saying “everyone does that sort of thing” or words to that effect.

Hopefully he tells her about last night and they decide that’s the end of it.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 01/05/2019 13:10

Grundys never seek advice ahead of trouble. Are unwilling to hear advice while in trouble. And only grudgingly accept advice to get out of trouble.

Thing is, having no stately home to fall back on, this trouble could ruin them for life.

ppeatfruit · 01/05/2019 13:52

Yes lido THEY might decide to end it, but would Tim?

thislido · 01/05/2019 14:17

I hope so ppeat because I’d find a blackmail SL very tedious and not credible.

ppeatfruit · 01/05/2019 14:45

Ed should go to talk to Oliver.

chatnicknameyousuggested · 01/05/2019 16:18

I can't remember, why did Peggy sack Emma?

Fink · 01/05/2019 16:20

I can't remember, why did Peggy sack Emma?

The stated reason was because she had Kate living there now, who could handle all the household chores, so she didn't need a cleaner any longer.

The real reason was so that Emma and Ed could be shorter off for money than usual and so more in need of Timotei's dodgy dealing offer.

chatnicknameyousuggested · 01/05/2019 16:34

Ah, of course. The SW are so obviously pushing them towards disaster. It's so predictable.

Abra1de · 01/05/2019 16:39

Did Emma take George with her to work at Peggy’s! Perhaps he nicked some cash?

DadDadDad · 01/05/2019 16:40

We need a new thread! @GabrielleNelson - where art thou?

And don't forget it might be useful to link to this thread as part of the OP of thread 103:

BertrandRussell · 01/05/2019 16:51

“I can't remember, why did Peggy sack Emma?”

To confirm that the script writers no longer give a flying fuck about continuity or character development.

MikeUniformMike · 01/05/2019 17:01

So we're looking at a Mere trying to be mummy SL and a Me-an'Ed lose our house SL. Great.

Fink · 01/05/2019 17:12

So we're looking at a Mere trying to be mummy SL and a Me-an'Ed lose our house SL. Great.

Plus a George steals the church money, or is at least suspected of it, SL, and perhaps a that dodgy van comes back to bite Eddie SL for good measure.

By the time Joe Grundy dies on air the whole family will be destroyed. Possible Clarrie will be left surveying the ruins.

grumiosmum · 01/05/2019 17:40

Grin Bertrand

@GothicMansionOnARainyNight - I think you probably want a thread about the origin of your username. Hmm

This thread tends to focus on discussing The Archers, although as it's full now, we've moved on to the next one... Smile
