Archers Thanks due to @PseudoBadger for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads and to @DadDadDad for being our resident statistician and keeping the ball rolling when Pseudo stepped back a bit. Thanks also to all those who contributed to the thread title, principally Dumdedumdedum and MikeUniformMike on this occasion.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd like to be Susan's best friend or other odd unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from this thread, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

So, to business: will Helen's new cheese be a success? Will Kate succeed in keeping her visiting Brummies under control? Will Pip, Toby, Tom and Natasha fall into the slurry pit, leaving Rosie to be brought up by Anthony Head Robin Fairbrother? Will we ever hear Lee again, and will he casually drop in a mention of his fine collection of framed Bruce Lee posters? Grin

It'll be George.

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/04/2019 19:30

Yes, it will be connected with whatever she was trying to talk to Clarrie about at the cricket.

Motoko · 29/04/2019 19:53

Well, I did wonder how she was paying for Poppy's haircut, but I'm not sure if it was Mia. I suppose she could have done it when she was helping Clarrie with the cricket tea.

Shula was being all needy with Alistair again. He's no longer your husband Shula! You have no right to expect him to be your emotional crutch. YOU dumped him.

Grr, can you tell she really annoys me?

ADarkandStormyKnight · 29/04/2019 20:43

I can't see Mia taking money from the Lent appeal in her mother's name, after all she did to set it up?

MereDintofPandiculation · 29/04/2019 20:58

It reminded me of how the Famous 5 used to treat Anne! No, Anne used to enjoy the "little mother" role, she was a victim of Enid Blyton's view of women - you couldn't do "boy" things without wearing boy's clothing and cutting your hair off. Swallows and Amazons gave much better role models ... and even managed a positive model for a bespectacled nerd.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 29/04/2019 21:04

CMR showing his true colours...

BertrandRussell · 29/04/2019 21:09

I have to say i’d have been a bit pissed off if i’d been Russ too......

DadDadDad · 29/04/2019 21:15

CMR said there are 14 stations of the Cross, while Lynda was sure it was 12. The internet shows clearly that one of them was right - the other may have fallen foul of a common mis-remembering / misconception.

Who do you think had it right?

BertrandRussell · 29/04/2019 21:18

There are 14. Very occasionally 15. But never 12. That’s apostles.

R4 · 29/04/2019 21:18

Money going missing in connection with Grange Farm and the stolen bunting are both old, unsolved mysteries. Are the resurrections of these stories connected?

BertrandRussell · 29/04/2019 21:19

I know this stuff.
I am a very well educated atheist.

BertrandRussell · 29/04/2019 21:20

Church money went missing before. It’s George. For sure.

Mootsie · 29/04/2019 21:25

I think Mia was trying to tell Clarrie she saw George taking the money.

BertrandRussell · 29/04/2019 21:33

Loved Jim tonight with his holographic Jesus......

birdsdestiny · 29/04/2019 21:46

I knew it would be CMR who was right because that would be the most irritating answer.

LillianGish · 29/04/2019 23:00

Two rabbit/carrot incidents, Jakob’s organ, Russ’s wasp sting and now a box this summary has made me snort with laughter. Thanks Bert.

LassOfFyvie · 29/04/2019 23:03

To be fair to CMR his suggestion sounded far more interesting than Lynda's feet.

LillianGish · 29/04/2019 23:09

Jim's hologram was far and away the best suggestion.

grumiosmum · 30/04/2019 07:52

I really enjoyed the debate about art. A welcome return to form!

echt · 30/04/2019 08:06

I wanted to know more about the pedicure.

ppeatfruit · 30/04/2019 09:49

Asking TA is now known as a 'drama" well I say 'now' but it has been for the past couple of years. Thus making it more doomy and gloomy because 'drama' seems to be defined by the BEEB as more and more effing misery. T

I stopped watching both EE and Corrie (which seemed to decide to join the BBC) because of this. TA does have the advantage of being a bit calmer than the TV soaps.

Abra1de · 30/04/2019 10:58

Shula and Russ? As a couple?

DadDadDad · 30/04/2019 11:51

Have I missed something? On Sunday night, we had the "cliffhanger" of a mystery woman joining the art committee that Kenton reckoned Shula wouldn't be happy about. I did think to myself "Lynda?" at that point, but I wasn't sure.

So, it was indeed Lynda on the committee - we could hear her talking in the background as the scene began, so I felt like I was waiting for Shula to react badly to her presence. But that didn't happen - so the "cliffhanger" was a bit of an anti-climax.

Anyway, Shula having to deal with the combination of Jim, Russ and Lynda gave us more than enough drama, so I'm not complaining, just puzzled.

birdsdestiny · 30/04/2019 12:02

Isn't it just that most people in TA find Lynda tricky to deal with so Jolene assumed Sheila would feel the same.

DadDadDad · 30/04/2019 12:19

Sure, I just feel that it hardly merited the drama of cliffhanger.
