Speaking of prison, I can’t help thinking it’s time for Kaz (?) to make an appearance and sort Helen out. I liked her character. I want her to move to Ambridge and take up with Jazzer.

Never mind Pip’s lack of faith, I felt as though Shula was having some sort of religious calling in that episode. Writing a sermon? Is that how she is going to fill the gap,in her life (I say this as someone who knows someone for whom exactly that happened)? Natasha and Tom are just doomed aren’t they? And it looks as if it’s going to be a very expensive mistake.

I thought Toby was being insufferably rude during the meeting with Alan. I really wanted Alan to call him out, or even better, throw him out.

I must say, I'm all in favour of the christening if it means we get to hear more of Robin Fairbrother.

I often read this thread before I listen to the podcast...it’s more of an anticipatory chuckle than a spoiler! I have just listened to last night. I didn’t think Toby had literally said to cross his fingers . That’s smacks of desperation by Alan to let that go. I’m pretty shocked by that. It makes the whole thing completely meaningless!

I too wondered if the next SL for Shula is becoming a deacon or a vicar. I'm not sure if I could cope with the levels of sanctimony she would reach, let alone with her treating recalcitrant parishioners as badly-behaved horses.

I found this the other day. Re what she said about not wanting to settle down and have a family, the sense I got was that she didn’t want to have a family with her ex, not that she was against having a family full stop. But I confess I can’t actually remember how it was phrased in the broadcast.

My head just said "God, Natasha's ex must be gutted .."

I LOVE this idea so much. I really want Jazzer to find happiness, he is such a decent guy.

Really liked last night's episode - I love how they (sometimes) make humans complex and well rounded. eg last week Tom and Natasha had that row and he was being an utter melt and I was totally on her side. This week, they pulled the old switcheroo and it was N I was itching to smack. And like when Susan takes a split second break from being unbearable to do something nice like when she organised the rota of people to help Ed after Nic died. Or that time when Kate parented Noli for a whole entire night after she had that bad E.

I thought it funny how Natasha implied that Tom was being really boring by paying his credit card in full each month! I think Tom is desperate not to be boring.

Yes, she boycotted St Stephen's while Janet was the incumbent IIRC. But that wouldn't stop her being a deacon, the theological figleaf over sexism (apostolic succession?) only pertains to priests.

Or maybe that bit is more about bishops.

Shula does seem an exemplar of a particular type of self-serving religiosity. I hope if this storyline does develop that Usha has something to say. (Does Usha know about the Shula lying to the police re Rob's attack on the hunt sab?)

So that's why Shula got divorced she wants to marry God!!! Become a nun.
