Now that is interesting Lilian one of my best friends married a reformed drug dealer and he still can't get a passport ( he was booked 40 years ago !).

So it took Natasha about five minutes to learn about Helen from Susan. Is Lee deaf?

I wonder how Freddie will be when he gets out of prison? We have heard so little for so long that we have no idea whether he will be broken or chastened but stronger, or something in between. I hope that he will move out of his own accord once he understands the licensing position

I enjoyed Alice on Kate.

ppeatfruit · 20/03/2019 09:58

Sorry I don't know about licences.

RadioCarter · 20/03/2019 10:33

To be fair to Susan, she didn't think she was imparting news to a random. She thought that she was talking about something that Natasha, since she is now one of the family, already knew.

EcclesThePeacock · 20/03/2019 10:53

Yes - but then the same might apply to Lee. Perhaps at some point Susan will join the dots - her 2+2's don't always = 5 - and she does sometimes manage to be tactful.

JazzersMaw · 20/03/2019 13:49

Why is Russ called CallMeRuss, handily abbreviated to CMR?

The first scene we had with Messrs Jones and Pargetter in it was in CMR‘s office at the College. When Freddie called him Mr Jones CMR immediately said ‚Call me Russ‘ as he wanted to be all palsy walsy with the twin of the student he was Loathsome man.

JazzersMaw · 20/03/2019 13:50

2nd last sentence above has the word shagging missing. Sorry.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 20/03/2019 14:29

I don't see why Freddie has anything to do with his mother holding a licence to sell alcohol. He's not serving drinks, and if someone who has done time for not actually being caught dealing drugs is not actually selling drinks somewhere why is there any problem with the somewhere's licence?

He'd probably have trouble getting an individual licence, but he isn't trying to, is he?

The whole thing is weird anyway. Someone is arrested for possession of drugs on a Friday night, and by Monday morning the alcohol licence for the premises they were arrested on has been taken away? really? How come there are still pubs open anywhere at all? Are pubs meant to check each person's record as he or she comes in the door and ban any with a conviction, or what?

BertrandRussell · 20/03/2019 15:37

I think it is completely baffling that Tom had not told Natasha about Helen and Rob. For once I am completely on Susan’s side.

Arpafeelie · 20/03/2019 16:34

Natasha reminds me of someone I like and admire. She was in a LTR with a boyfriend who was nice enough, but wouldn't commit to marriage / kids. She dumped him when she was 38 ( a brave move) and set about finding a husband. She was very clear about the sort of man she was looking for, and she found him. He was a friend of a friend. They weren't as quick off the mark as Tom and Natasha, but they didn't waste time either. Engaged at 39, married at 40, DC1 at 41, DC2 at 43. Still happy a decade later.

Natasha is not long out of a LTR, and this looks like a rebound relationship, but perhaps it's not. Perhaps she decided that, as she is in her late 30s, if she found someone to settle down with, there was no point in waiting.

Pumpkintopf · 20/03/2019 17:39

Does everyone else find Kate incredibly annoying? I can't believe she seems to take no responsibility for the fact that Brian and Jennifer sold their house to enable her to keep spiritual home which she cared so little about she swanned off to South Africa. She's now spending her time redecorating her room at Peggy's - obviously her business is incredibly important to her?!

EcclesThePeacock · 20/03/2019 17:46

It would be more efficient to ask if there's anyone who doesn't find her incredibly annoying.Grin

Though in some ways she's too much of a caricature to really care about.

EBearhug · 20/03/2019 17:52

I dunno, she could have waited longer than settling for Tom...

greenelephantscarf · 20/03/2019 17:55

I love kate.
and am immensly relieved my 'own' kate is tame in comparison.

JazzerMcJazzer · 20/03/2019 17:59

I agree that Kate is a full cariacature now. I enjoy her storylines, but in a cartoony way. I don’t genuinely care about her like I do about Helen or Johnny or even Alice.

BertrandRussell · 20/03/2019 18:16

I just want to shriek “Kate-you’re 41!!!! Tom- you’re 38!!!” all the time....

birdsdestiny · 20/03/2019 18:17

Imagine deciding it was time to find a husband and deciding Tom would do. I am worried about her critical thinking skills now.

RadioCarter · 20/03/2019 18:25

It wasn't Tom on his own. She fell for the whole idyllic village, Farm-with-a-conscience, supportive&close family, Nuffield-scholar shtick. She fell for the dream and didn't do proper Due Diligence.

MadameButterface · 20/03/2019 18:47

yes, I warmed up to Natasha when she stood up to Tom, and then again in the Jill scenes. Tom always manages to pull these women who are miles too good for him. tbf to loathsome Hannah, she at least was on his level.

UnspiritualHome · 20/03/2019 18:53

What puts me off Kate is her spite. She was positively enjoying herself when she thought Adam was out of the house at night time because he'd had a bust-up with Ian, and was equally disappointed to discover it was solely down to lambing.

UnspiritualHome · 20/03/2019 18:58

AskingQuestions, Freddie was caught trying to deal drugs, wasn't he? And he confessed to having been doing so for some time. I assume they lost their licence because he was living and dealing on the premises, not just because he had possession of drugs there.

Eastie77 · 20/03/2019 19:19

I was convinced Kenton was going to try and talk Jolene out of going on tour. Instead he seemed positively thrilled at the prospect of her disappearing for 3 weeks!

birdsdestiny · 20/03/2019 19:19

Perhaps after due diligence Grin, Natasha will realise Tom is a tosser but still love his family/farm. I vaguely remember a sex and the city episode on that theme.

Motoko · 20/03/2019 19:24

I was expecting that of Kenton too, but maybe with David hassling him for the money he owes, he's seeing the £ signs. Jolene said she'd be well paid.

Kate tonight, still denying any responsibility for the sale of the house. And I also thought she was spiteful that night with Adam.

echt · 20/03/2019 19:40

Rather like the way the SWs/director is maintaining the Kate always scoffing, symbolic of her greed. Also pointed out again that she's already eaten loads. Her nasal whine when aggrieved is a treat.
