It's pretty much only the younger (

Salierithellama · 13/03/2019 17:26

Quite possibly my hearing, but I do sometimes confuse the male actors, I was listening to the Omnibus on Sunday with growing indignation that Russ was telling Elizabeth that Freddie should perhaps not return to LL, when she suddenly used Kenton's name Blush
Absolutely loved Peggy's interaction with Kate, she is such a great actor and delivered the lines in such a deliciously deadpan manner, telling Kate the truth whilst still ending every sentence with 'dear' - loved it

I am still catching up, but is a dislocated finger really such a drama? I say this as an ex rugby wife where finger injuries were pretty common, I would have expected Ruth to to perform a quick maneuver and tell David to stop fussing ....... I mean they even phoned Pip to get her back to lambing shed, when we all know Pip needs her rest

EcclesThePeacock · 13/03/2019 17:43

Kate making the mistake of underestimating Peggy was great. Which reminds me, upthread discussing the latter's finances, I noticed a while ago just in passing her remarking casually that she was calling her stockbroker.

Alleycat1 · 13/03/2019 18:22

Totally off subject but where is Francis Crawford? I am a very long time lurker who has hardly ever had to post because FC always beat me to it and always said exactly what I was going to say myself!

BringbackCharlie · 13/03/2019 19:10

Tenuously connected, but Josh Archer is moonlighting in Series 2 of Fleabag....

I suspect he'll be sent off to Canada in pursuit of a Fergie for Tony and return with a new voice before long.

BTW, why have the scriptwriters sent Ian over to Bulgaria? Is it so that he suddenly realises that the expected baby won't be theirs, thanks to the local surrogacy laws, unless they get Lexi back to Blighty?

RhinestoneCowgirl · 13/03/2019 19:12

Is Rex being lined up for Lily?

BringbackCharlie · 13/03/2019 19:18

Yes I was puzzled by the finger incident too, Salierithellama. I almost googled it.

When I dragged DD to the chemist with a bruised finger (netball related) the lady recounted her DS's years of rugby-related finger injuries and we both decided to strap DD's finger with micropore.

Had it been worse, we would have nipped round to the vet and bribed him.

Does Felpersham even have an A&E? Somehow I doubt it.

RadioCarter · 13/03/2019 19:24

Does Felpersham even have an A&E? Somehow I doubt it.
It does, but even here in Hollerton we have a Minor Injuries Unit.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 13/03/2019 20:51

No, I know ppeatfruit, but Adam just sounds soooo tired 😫

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 13/03/2019 20:53

So very weary!!

UnspiritualHome · 13/03/2019 21:27

Hasn't Ian being agitating to go to Bulgaria for ages? He feels he has to support the mother of their child, keep an eye on the bump, etc. Actually I can sort of understand that, it would spoil the anticipation of the forthcoming event if Lexie is just left to incubate the baby hundreds of miles away with no input from Ian and Adam.

Re the finger, I think it's important in any event to check that the tendon hasn't been torn and/or the bone broken. I had a mallet finger once, where the tendon had torn away taking a bit of bone with it and leaving me unable to straighten it at the end. I was dopey and didn't get it checked for a few days, and was read the riot act about how I could be left with permanent disfigurement and great problems in writing, typing, sewing etc if it wasn't sorted. Fortunately for me the NHS did a superb job sorting out a temporary and then a fitted splint followed by physio and I escaped the consequences. I guess also with a dislocation you have to take life fairly carefully in case there's a repetition?

However, all the nonsense about making David lie down and rest was total bollocks and I was glad to see him ignoring it.

TumbledTussocks · 13/03/2019 21:55

Sorry if I came across as a total montbelliard about Helen.

it's also possible with PTSD to behave and think irrationally, be confused and lose your normal good manners in a breakdown. I do agree JennysTagine it just annoys me that trauma always equals bad manners on TV. Speaking from personal experience it's possible to live through PTSD without being rude. I don't mean she has to explain but ghosting? Really? How old is she? All she has to do is send a text, she could even lie and blame the substandard framing of his shrine posters.

On a totally different subject, I must confess I like Adam's voice. Blush I think I'd enjoy being read a bedtime story by him. Hearing him and Kate together was nice, very well written sibling scuffle. It just left me wishing I had some scotch and some chocolate, although I probably wouldn't get very far with the scotch.

StillDumDeDumming · 13/03/2019 22:11

Do we think the chocolates were vegan? (I am too)

UnspiritualHome · 13/03/2019 23:04

I wish Adam had pointed out to Kate that she wouldn't have had the problem of her business being associated with toxic waste if she'd agreed to the land being sold.

TheSilveryHildaOgden · 13/03/2019 23:05

Still a bit puzzled as to why Kate can't use one of her yurts. Do they get taken down in the winter, or is it that the farm office is warm?

UnspiritualHome · 13/03/2019 23:05

I do hope Lily tells Russ he needs to sign up to the call centre job and start paying for his keep.

Motoko · 13/03/2019 23:21

I'm glad we didn't have to listen to much of Jolene's wailing. The bit we did hear was bad enough.

The continuity announcer said what I was thinking, about Adam letting Kate stay "for a few days"!
But Adam let her off too lightly, for pinching his Valentine's chocolates.

TheMadGardener · 13/03/2019 23:41

First Lily and Rex bonding scene since they decorated the Christmas tree together. And with change counting too!

Hopefully Lily going to work with other people her age in the call centre will be a step towards her becoming more disillusioned with Russ.

How long will it take Ian and Adam to move Kate? She'll probably take over the nursery as her room.

EBearhug · 14/03/2019 00:24

I have been enjoying the continuity announcers lately.

ppeatfruit · 14/03/2019 08:06

Where'sThat He's been up lambing all night!

grumiosmum · 14/03/2019 08:14

Kate did suggest moving into a yurt but everyone else was all, you can't possibly do that, not at this time of year.

I think Lily & Rex are being lined up as an item.

I also wondered about the chocolates being vegan. But I think Kate is a really annoying quasi-vegan (as I am sometimes) - she will make a vegan choice if it's available, banging on about how much better it is to only eat plants, but if nothing else is available she'll happily tuck in to hot buttered toast, or whatever.

grumiosmum · 14/03/2019 08:15

And how was it possible that the valentines chocolates had not been eaten already?

Mine were all gone by Feb 15th.

Crowdfundingforcake · 14/03/2019 08:28

I get sooooo annoyed with everyone pussyfooting around Kate. Adam started off tough last night, but by the end it was all 'Awww, but you're my sister, come and stay with us.' Someone seriously needs to sit Kate down and tell her a few home truths (Alice, Peggy), and people need to stop enabling her.

Phoebe, Jenny and Lillian panicking because she disappeared for a couple of days - she does this all the time, whenever things don't go precisely her way.

She's over 40, she has 3 children, yet she's still leeching off everyone around her. I really hope she ends up with Toby.

JazzerMcJazzer · 14/03/2019 09:07

People live in yurts on the Mongolian steppes in the depths of winter! And do you remember that Kate initially decked them out for a brochure or something with furniture and soft furnishings from Home Farm- that will all be languishing in storage now, she may as well use it!

I was quite shocked that it didn’t seem to have occurred to Lily to get any sort of job until Rex mentioned it. I can’t believe that she is so stupid that she doesn’t know that any type of work experience is not only income but a good foundation for CV, references etc for her future career prospects. Even Alice chambermaided at Grey Gables back in the day.

LillianandJustin · 14/03/2019 09:08

Lily going to work with other people her age in the call centre - not just the fact that they are other people her age, but that Rex reminded her it’s not the first rung of her career, just a way of earning some cash. This is another difference between her and CMR - he was already on his way up the career ladder so is unlikely to consider any old job on that basis alone. Working with other people her age is an excellent point though - they may very well wonder why she is shacked up with some old, unemployed bloke (or even have been former pupils themselves with a reaction like Josh). I like Adam’s voice - instantly recognisable which is the most important consideration in radio drama where that’s all you’ve got to go on. I actually thought Lily was Kate for a minute at the start of last night’s episode and then couldn’t work out why Phoebe was saying mum’s gone missing (thought she must be talking about Hayley - was half asleep in my defence, listening on catch up in bed).
