Well hasn’t it been a fun few years! Thank you all for supporting the threads and sharing in love and critique of The Archers.

jennystangine · 12/03/2019 13:06

Pleased to meet you SecondBestTagine and spelt correctly tooGrin

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 12/03/2019 13:42

Ooh SBT (do you mind if I call you that? You can call me Pas... CMP...) I love the In The Archers Psychiatrist’s Chair idea!

KateMadikane · 12/03/2019 14:03

Is your name an homage to the absence of Harrison of late pas beaucoup ?

SecondBestTagine · 12/03/2019 14:04

waves to Pas and jenny <

I can't help feeling it's ripe with possibility. They could get Susie Orbach or Phillipa Perry or someone like that to do it (with information hotlines available). I'll make sure we get full credits should R4 pick it up.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 12/03/2019 15:01

It wasn’t, SBT, but I think it is now!

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 12/03/2019 16:09

Did Kate really think Peggy was going to fall for that? Hmm

Motoko · 12/03/2019 16:43

Dunno, but she's desperate not to be forced to grow up and do some adulting. I liked it when Kirsty told her she'd have to get a place to rent, like other adults do!

UnspiritualHome · 12/03/2019 18:15

I thought Tom sounded ever so slightly slightly sheepish when he was telling Helen about the outrageous bungalow plan

I didn't get that impression. He sounded as if it was perfectly normal to expect to turf your parents out of their home as soon as you get married, and when (I hope) they tell him to dream on he's going to go all butthurt and whinge on about no-one ever listens to him.

Motoko · 12/03/2019 19:25

Helen's hiding again. Wonder what she told Clarrie. Obviously not the truth, but she must have made it very clear to her that she didn't want to see Lee. After Clarrie and Susan's conversation earlier, about her being down, (early menopause!) it won't take long before they put 2 and 2 together, and work out that something's gone on between Helen and Lee, and then Susan will come to some conclusion that's wrong, and spread it around Ambridge. As she does.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 12/03/2019 19:26

I haven't been reading these threads for a while - not since before it clicked over onto Thread 100.

I had a bit of a ShockBlush moment when I misread the thread title! I didn't have my glasses on, and I just saw 'the rapist in a tabard'.

Got me wondering what I have been missing!

Just as an aside - are they playing Adam at the right speed? Or is he permanently on tranquilisers?

Do you suppose the actor speaks like that in real life?

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 12/03/2019 19:28

Oh dear. Lee is getting - quite justifiably - a bit miffed, isn't he?

LassOfFyvie · 12/03/2019 20:51

I have lost the little sympathy I had for Helen. That was just nasty. Clarrie won't gossip but Helen has sown the seeds that Lee is a wrong 'un in both Clarrie and Susan's minds.

ppeatfruit · 12/03/2019 21:08

Motoko Yes Kate is outrageous, she's like a 16 yr old. Pheobe shouldn't be nice to her, offering her a place to 'kip' on her floor fgs. it seems the SWs are replaying AbFab.

Shame about Helen but they'll meet accidentally and it'll all come out. Poor Henry missing his Karate lessons. Or is Emm taking him?

TumbledTussocks · 12/03/2019 21:54

I have been feeling the same Lass. Helen is actually just out of order now. I know this is a big deal for her but it actually doesn't excuse her repeated bad manners. Lee does not deserve this. She's moping saying 'what if he kegs it' but she's not worse off than she is hiding from him in the dairy. It's not like she has him now anyway with things like this.

Being rude because you've had a traumatic experience is such a soap trope and it really annoys me. It's entirely possible to have PTSD and treat others with respect and dignity.

EcclesThePeacock · 12/03/2019 23:08

John Finnemore has a parody 'How The Archers sounds to people who do not listen to The Archers' which includes gems such as 'Hello, man who always sounds tired.' Grin

EcclesThePeacock · 12/03/2019 23:24

Anyhow...just caught up with the last 3 episodes, some good stuff. Grinned a bit at people naively assuming Phoebe was home for a holiday - the first time DD came back from uni she made it clear that it was vacation, in that they had to vacate their rooms, and that only a subsection would be holiday.Grin
I'm slightly hopeful that TASWAMA may be becoming less true... Alice's robotics project going all the better for the lack of family strawberries, maybe her recent abstemiousness is actually because she's getting her act back together workwise?

And can I just say how delightful I found HannahOrNatasha's 'I absolutely hate my new, just-for-this-thread, user name so I'll maybe just use it once.' ... giving yourself an NN you hate purely for the sake of celebrating thread 100 is above and beyond the call of duty. Archers

Motoko · 13/03/2019 03:13

What's TASWAMA stand for?

derxa · 13/03/2019 04:38

I'm up with the lambing. Don't know how ? hurt his hand by getting it caught in a sheep's wool on tonight's episode. Grin

GeorgeTheBleeder · 13/03/2019 04:57

I'm up with worry - also wondering about David's rather novel injury ...

Hope you're not freezing derxa? Are lambing sheds heated?

GeorgeTheBleeder · 13/03/2019 05:06

TASWAMA stands for The Archers Script Writers Are Misogynist Arseholes. Coined by BertrandRussell on these threads some time back.

derxa · 13/03/2019 05:20

Hi George What's your worry? It's bloody freezing here in Scotland. No fanciness like heated sheds. DS woke me at 3 because of a stuck lamb. Ewes bashed into water trough and knackered it. Back in now waiting to see if lambs are up and drinking from mum.

OlgaArsenievnaOleinik · 13/03/2019 05:44

He's such a wazzock

Best ever description of Tom Grin

jennystagine · 13/03/2019 06:29

derxa so interesting to hear of real farming drama, hope the rest of the lambing goes better for you.
I've sympathy for Helen, it's also possible with PTSD to behave and think irrationally, be confused and lose your normal good manners in a breakdown.
She may have told Clarrie that Lee has done nothing wrong but that she's just not coping well at the moment and can't see him.
Helen's in desperate need of counselling and should be forgiven, in my view, an occasional lack of good manners.

UnspiritualHome · 13/03/2019 06:39

It is sort of irritating that Helen keeps banging on about how the truth will drive Lee away when her current behaviour is achieving that anyway.
