Archers Thanks due to @PseudoBadger for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads and to @DadDadDad for being our resident statistician and keeping the ball rolling when Pseudo stepped back a bit. Thanks also to all those who contributed to the thread title.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you'd like to be Susan's best friend or other odd unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3439443-keep-it-to-yourself-the-archers-spoilers-thread-4, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

So, to business. What a fantastic two-hander. Massive BOOP points to Alison Dowling, the scriptwriter and director (and the therapist). I had more than a small tear in my eye listening to that.

I'm another one with a vote of thanks to chemenger for all that information on the last thread about distilling. I should know some of that because I went on a tour of the whisky distillery near where my parents live but I've forgotten most of it except how delicious the end product is.

'Clown trousers' 😂

Shazafied · 15/02/2019 21:54

Hello new thread Smile

echt · 15/02/2019 21:59

Lillian: You can have the rooms at the top of the house, and I'll pop up to visit.

Yeah, right. Kate will be forever downstairs. And as for her being the perfect housemaid? Never in a month of Sundays.

Justin will be incandescent.:o

Abillity2019 · 15/02/2019 21:59

Can’t believe no-one’s commented on the vomit-inducing scene of Ruth luring David I to bed or has everyone blocked it lol.

DadDadDad · 15/02/2019 22:03

Ability - there are about 4 or 5 references up the thread.

Anyway, I can't believe Kate actually said "I won't be any trouble". Yeah, right - you're never any trouble, Kate.

grumiosmum · 15/02/2019 22:50

Loved the clown trousers reference.

My SIL is a big fan of those Keralan fisherman's trousers, or whatever they are called ...

ErrolTheDragon · 15/02/2019 23:32

Kate and Ruari may be half-siblings but ffs, she's over 20 years older than him yet still squabbling like a teenager.

I don't often think this, but poor Justin.

Tuesdaylast · 15/02/2019 23:38

Ability Blocked it. With all the strength I have

echt · 16/02/2019 00:31

Ability, I registered the event, though tried to avert my eyes, as it were. Clumsy TA SWs' Valentine's Day effort to show that though there may be snow on the roof, there's a fire in the grate.

echt · 16/02/2019 00:33

clowntrousers is an old username of mine. I checked and it's explicitly linked with echt, so won't be using it again.

buckingfrolicks · 16/02/2019 08:16

DDD Blush I'll just pack my bag

DadDadDad · 16/02/2019 08:35

You nellie! Grin

EBearhug · 16/02/2019 08:45

It's important to remember the Walter and the elephant storyline, whenever we think current storylines seem implausible.

Bittermints · 16/02/2019 14:19

What about asking for something to symbolise a BOOP point? A thumbs up sign, perhaps, or a foaming tankard of Shires.

OP posts:
thislido · 16/02/2019 14:29

I like the idea of a BOOP symbol. A pint of Shires is less generic than a thumbs up, although it might feel odd toasting some characters with it - the ones I can't imagine drinking Shires. Not sure that matters though.

Perhaps we could have a 'Snell sniff' symbol as an anti-boop too Grin

EthelFechan · 16/02/2019 16:56

[bull]

EthelFechan · 16/02/2019 16:58

[Archers]

EthelFechan · 16/02/2019 16:59

Blush so sorry! Got a new tablet and having a few teething problems!

buckingfrolicks · 16/02/2019 16:59

Hmm. A boop symbol.

Bittermints · 16/02/2019 17:18

Yes, not that BOOP! Grin

I like the idea of an anti-BOOP emoticon too. We had a regular poster called AntiBoop, didn't we? Not sure how a sniff could be represented in emoji form but it's a great idea.

Change counting is a great feature of The Archers. Some loose change for the BOOP? Or perhaps a peacock, to represent the improbably long-lived Eccles?

Ethel, nearly there, just don't use a capital A for archers.Archers

InvisibleLlama · 16/02/2019 18:05

oh a Peacock sounds lovely @Bittermints and kind of doubles up for all the competing Top Blokes egos too.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/02/2019 18:16

Ethel's post after the [bull] shows as the emoticon on my iPad in the app... is it case sensitive on some platforms but not others?

ErrolTheDragon · 16/02/2019 18:20

A peacock is a somewhat obscure Archers reference (and might be a bit tricky to render in fairly low-res MN emoticon format?)

cheminotte · 16/02/2019 18:21

Will used a rather choice term with Trac(e)y !
