Welcome..... I'd concocted a longer title with all sorts of references to bitch stitching and pasta bakes, but was thwarted by the pesky character limit

The idea that Matt might be the buyer occurred to me as well, and it would revive flagging interest in Lillian's lurve life if he were to move back and offer her the house. But wouldn't he run the risk of facing charges?

ppeatfruit · 05/12/2018 11:38

I reckon it's a conglomerate of some kind not BL but something like it. Who'll rip it down (or keep the outside and rebuild the inside as a Health type club) that'd please Kate Grin. I wonder if the yurts are included in the sale?

JD said they'd store the inessentials in a farm building while they looked for a house to buy.

buckingfrolicks · 05/12/2018 12:12

Long shot but could Rob have made money and be coming back to Lord it up in Brian's house?

Minimammoth · 05/12/2018 12:12

They could just occupy all of the yurts, store their stuff in a barn and live as a sort of hippy community. Brian could have a ponytail.

buckingfrolicks · 05/12/2018 12:13

We need to hear from Grumiosmum's DH that he is alive and well after that pasta bake.

buckingfrolicks · 05/12/2018 12:13

Brian would indeed have a hippy fit at that suggestion

howdyho · 05/12/2018 13:10

Thank you for the heads up Fink re Nigel's death on today's Advent calendar. Gave me the goosebumps all over again it did.

howdyho · 05/12/2018 13:20

Memento Mori Muriel Spark I read that a long time ago but can't remember a thing about it, worth reading again?

KingscoteStaff · 05/12/2018 13:27

Ursula and Bruce so they can be near Gideon?

Arpafeelie · 05/12/2018 13:27

Spark's Memento Mori is worth reading again, but it's quite dated.

howdyho · 05/12/2018 13:34

Well, so am I Arpafeelie! but thanks, I'll look out for a copy.

Fink · 05/12/2018 13:55

The thing is, if the mystery buyer were any of these known figures, why would they have sent an agent round to view the house? If it's someone like the Titcheners, Matt etc. then the actual state of the house is not the motive for the purchase (even apart from the fact that some of them will know what the house is like from personal experience anyway).

grumiosmum · 05/12/2018 14:07

buckingfrolicks he is indeed, and I am this very moment enjoying the leftovers for my lunch.

OrchidInTheSun · 05/12/2018 14:15

Why is Helen wringing her hands about leaving her two horrors for a couple of days? She's constantly getting her mum and dad to look after them.

willywillywillywilly · 05/12/2018 14:54

Jessie they sound amazing!

Fink · 05/12/2018 15:20

Why is Helen wringing her hands about leaving her two horrors for a couple of days? She's constantly getting her mum and dad to look after them.

I was thinking the same.* I'm in a similar situation to Helen: single parent, good support from my parents ... though I've not been to prison yet. I travel to France for work maybe 3 or 4 times a year and, although I'm concerned about being too much of a CF with childcare, the trauma of being parted from dc has never occurred to me. I'm on that Eurostar munching on a croissant and catching up on my podcasts without a backwards glance.

*although I wouldn't call them 'horrors'; I've always been of the opinion that most of Henry's behaviour is in the normal range of 7 year old naughtiness rather than the psychopathic horror I would expect from a child who's been through what he has (I'm sure that's being stored up for the future).

witchmountain · 05/12/2018 15:37

why would they have sent an agent round to view the house?

Because not even viewing would raise more suspicion?

witchmountain · 05/12/2018 15:38

Although she says it’s about the children I think Helen is just quite worried about going somewhere by herself, hence the disappointment about Tony not being able to come.

explodingkittensexpansion · 05/12/2018 15:43

Money might buy speedier solicitors but it wouldn’t speed up the local authority search process...

Takes a few hours, you go in person.

ppeatfruit · 05/12/2018 15:56

IMO Helen still feels that Henry has been marked\or made insecure by her being in prison for the time ( i don't remember how long she was inside) and seeing the stabbing. She got paranoid about his 'normal' bad behaviour recently and at karate.

InkySplatter · 05/12/2018 16:27

I think Helen's behaviour is entirely fair and proportionate. Of course she's nervous travelling alone and worried to leave the kids. They are big steps for a traumatised person. I think it's a bit weak that no one can accompany her, especially given everyone made it to Nuffield. Even Kirsty or anyone. Or if someone else helped with the kids that would free up Pat. Although I'm sure Susan won't be in a mood to draw up a childcare rota for them in the circs.

onthenaughtystepagain · 05/12/2018 16:29

Do we know how much Jennifer's palace is on the market for?

InkySplatter · 05/12/2018 17:35

Oooh and thank you for the new thread boing fab title.

grumiosmum · 05/12/2018 17:36

I haven't been paying attention closely enough this week. Please could a kind person explain:

  1. Where is Helen off to (without her dad now)?
  1. Has someone anonymous made an offer for the farm (I did hear the bit where they have to be out by New Year), and what is being said about why it's anonymous.

Thank you.

witchmountain · 05/12/2018 17:54
  1. France to choose cows.
  1. Yes.
